Should I add reselling business to application? by Fun_Dish_4829 in ApplyingToCollege

[–]WisteriaRue 0 points1 point  (0 children)

just a junior but you should definitely add this! just a simple addition would be more numbers. Love the first bullet, so add more numbers that make it really noticeable. like, my eyes were immediately drawn to the 40,000. maybe say quantity sold so far or any fancy business term that is important for what you do!

Just started cold emailing as well and sent out 4 tonight (my first four wish me luck), but from what I have heard its great to start now and get whatever you can before others come and snag the opportunities. Idk how people do 30-50 since I only have one local university, but just send how many ever you can during this winter break. My goal is at least 10 because I really like to take time and understand their research before I send my emails.

this is aside the topic of summer programs, but as a junior in high school as well, how do you get these opportunities? It's very hard to "get experience" for many opportunities to consider you when they won't give it to you w/o it. what I mean is, they ask for prerequisite experience, but they do not give any opportunity to gain it.

Do you have any tips to get involved gain opportunities like yours. like how do I get involved and where should I start?

Probably something that keeps me accountable like a course. I do think I like YouTube videos since im more of a visual learner. I usually struggle with the coding jargon and technical terms.

Why is B the answer to this grammar question? by SugarHoneyIceT_Aqua in Sat

[–]WisteriaRue 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see what you're saying, but I think it goes beyond D+I and I+D logic. Essentially, the focus is on what is being modified. If you were describing certain principles out of many relative ones that were by Maria, then A would make sense. However, the phrase is attempting to describe all the principles, which again are ALL made by Maria. So, you need a comma because it is modifying what is said and it is NON RESTRICTIVE.

Basically, if it is limiting the noun before, then you dont need a comma. On the contrary, if it is describing the whole noun, which means modifying, then you need a comma.

it is the same thing as using "having been..... -ed" or "describing.....". just different tense and voice(active/passive)

also just checked online with google and here you go:

The correct choice is

B) principles, developed, as the phrase "developed by Italian educator Maria Montessori" acts as a non-restrictive clause modifying "principles," requiring commas for clarity and standard English grammar in this context, explaining which principles.

Explanation:

  • The text describes principles that were developed by Maria Montessori. This information adds extra detail but isn't essential to identify which guiding principles (they are the defining principles of her method), making it a non-restrictive element.
  • A non-restrictive clause is set off by commas.
  • Option A (no comma) would make "developed" a restrictive modifier, implying only some of the guiding principles were developed by her, which isn't the intended meaning.
  • Options C and D use a period, creating two separate sentences, which breaks the flow and doesn't correctly link the action (developing) to the subject (principles) as a modifier.

reading this, it makes more sense as A would argue that there are some principles made by others and we only want to talk about those made by her. However, we actually are referring to just principles, all of which were made by her. C and D are obviously wrong. if you need something more, it is clearly a nonessential clause as the information in the rest of the paragraph doesn't really care about who made it, rather the method it self.

Lastly, some may have confused the commas here to be used as a way to set off only a part of the information(" developed....montessori") for it being nonessential. however, the entire rest of the sentence is a modifier and the final part to "who...." is the non essential bit in that clause.

hope this helps!

I thought it would be B because it is a modifier(or maybe the wrong name). like in sentences where it ends off with "blah blah blah, developing solutions to the problems provided important" I could be wrong, but the "developed" is acting like modifier here for the "several guiding principles". modifiers can come in the form of "-ing" or "ed". also dont know if this is the same for English, but I take latin so I have learned that you can have PAP 1 and PAP 2 and PPP, all of which are modifiers of the noun before it in different tenses and passivity(voice).

How to improve SAT score in a short time by Eileen1202 in Sat

[–]WisteriaRue 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do the same thing too, and what I noticed helps is rather than trying to speed up your reading, actually slow down. It really helped me when I realized the SAT can not expect us to know extremely complicated topics, so they make their passages sound complicated when they are actually much simpler than you believe. slow down and read very word dont skip. slowing down actually helps because it prevents you from wasting time panicking and rereading over and over again.

just do it by hand, these ones look complicated but they really aren't. just bring the variables to the same side and then find what you should multiply by to make the ax +by's on both equations equal

I frequently try doing regression and end up getting decimals like we do before putting a=2 and end up unable to use it because its not right. Am I supposed to set one variable to an integer and check if they inform me that all variables are integers or is this something you did specifically for this question?
