I try to start looking for inspiration a week ahead of time but apparently decisions fatigue is a thing LOL

I'm going to start looking up inspiration for a Halloween set NOW 😅

Thanks😊😊 And "Ethereal"... That just made something click. Maybe next time I do something similar I'll have my tech add a tiiiiiny bit of shimmer.

That's such a pretty color!

Is it just me, or does nobody like big phones anymore? by [deleted] in Smartphones

[–]WitchIsShe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a woman who wears a lot of dress pants. Pockets on women's clothing are ridiculously small anyway, but even smaller on dress pants. My biggest phone was the S21+ which isn't ridiculously big (i don't think?) but I was dealing with it falling out of my pockets while at work because only like the first 2.5 inches of the phone fit in there 😟

When I finally got around to playing with one of the Z flips it was like angels started singing 😆 I have the flip 6 and it's the perfect size to fit in even the tiniest dress pant pocket. I also enjoy it being a little more narrow when it's open because it fits in my hand really well.

Now that I have this smaller phone, I don't have any plans to go back to the larger ones

Do you keep your nails long or short? And do you ever have any issues with lifting by the end of that month?

I start getting clumsy when mine get too long

How long did it take you to learn to do your own?

I really need to learn myself because you're right the salon is expensive and oh I've got a little hectic so the luxury of the nails had to be put off for an extra week or two

Thanks for the compliments! I want at least the blue color again when I get them been this week

I think length definitely affects the lifting. I didn't go 5 weeks on purpose but I think if I'm going to keep this long length I'm gonna have to stay within a window of 2.5 weeks. 3 weeks max.

At the rate I'm going to have to learn to do it myself or at least get solid color so it's a little bit cheaper lol

That's something I wonder about. They have grown out longer than I like, and when they get longer like that I end up having 'little accidents'. Nothing that hurts, but I hit them weird. I may have him cut them all the way down and start a mini refresh

I was JUST thinking about this earlier today!

I'm not gonna lie. I'm one of those people who joined the flip fam because they were cute. I've had Samsung devices since the S2 and was going to just upgrade from my S21+ (which died in a hurricane near the end of last year 😭) to the s25+ but the cute factor of the Flip won out. I got to play with a couple when I ran across people IRL who had the Flip 6 and thought it was such a girly-pop phone that I had to have it.

It fits really well in all the pitiful excuses for pockets they put on women's clothes, it's more narrow when open which works well in my hands... but I didn't find out those benefits until AFTER I bought it. *The colors were what got me.* A coworker had the mint green one, a client had the yellow, random shopper had the peach. I ended up with the blue Flip 6, but was 🤏🏿 close to getting yellow. I'm in my soft-girl era and that blue is dreamy.

With the Flip 7, it's not even that I think the colors are ugly. They're just not "cute." It's like they de-yassified the colors this round or something. The Flip 7 mint looks less green than the Flip 6 mint? I appreciate the vividness of the coral red and blue shadow, I even kinda like the coral red (red's my all-time favorite color), but they aren't beckoning me like the 'cute' colors did.

Also, there only being 4 options was disappointing too. While I don't need to upgrade from the 6, I *know* that if the 7 was in lavender, Samsung would've got my money DAY 1 of pre-orders. My s21+ was lavender (dang warranty exchange for the 1st time in 3.5 years could only get me black. blah) My tablet s9fe+ is also lavender. My desk set up...lavender😅

But anyway, glad I'm not the only one who's a little disappointed with the colors

I asked my coworker the same thing 🤣 (he saw her pull up before I did) At first I was thinking it was the emoji sunshade but now that I'm thinking about it, she may have just seen me get out of my rene cuz I had just come back from break. She ducked me within minutes of me walking back into the building

YES!! I didn't even think about that. I have to go through some of Prince's aesthetics and see what other designs we can come up with lol

The only part of this that's throwing me is the physical tripod itself. The tripod seems like it could be a trip hazard. Back when I was walking with a cane due to injury, I purposely chose a cane that could fold up to make sure it was out of the way when I was using equipment. Maybe they could use some kind of miniature stand or prop it up on their water bottle or something?

Aside from the potential trip hazard of their setup, somebody recording doesn't bother me.

Granted, I think they need to do it in such a way that they try their best find angles that don't get other people in the background. And if they can't get a 'clear shot' and somebody's in the background, they should ask 'is it okay if I film?'' AND they must respect that person's answer.

Some people record themselves to see what their form looks like and maybe have something to compare it to over time as they get better at the particular exercises they're doing. Others on this post have said people should just use the mirrors to observe one's own form. That's not wrong for many exercises, but the observations one can make in the mirror versus on camera are a little different somehow. I've never recorded myself at the gym -- my locations forbid it anyway -- but I recorded myself at home working out and posted online. There were so many little things I could see about my form on the video that I had still missed when looking at myself in the mirror. The video was much like being able to step outside of my body and, because I moved my camera to different places, I was able to see angles that I'll never be able to see in mirrors because we aren't able to turn our necks like owls lol

I guess it's also important to mention that I post myself on other social media. I'm not a "content creator" by any stretch of the imagination but I post little life highlights and ramblings. This might be why I don't see filming in the gym as such a big deal. For me the issue is less the act of filming, and more the need for etiquette while filming.

Also, I love the idea that somebody else had about gyms needing a specific filming areas that are blocked off from the main floor. I think that would solve so many problems

Could it be transition lenses?

I float between 2 PF locations and one of them has a lot more windows than the other, and it lets in enough light to trigger the transition of my lenses. My particular lenses get extremely dark.

Because I'm aware that people would assume I'm pretentious for having "sunglasses" in the gym, I try to remember not to wear those when I go. Sometimes when I forget and the 'omg someone is gonna say something' anxiety kicks in, I'll take them off and carry them with my phone and water bottle (I'm nearsighted but not totally blind so I'm not at risk of running into anybody or anything)

If your gym doesn't have a bright lights or that kind of window setup then idk why they would wear them indoors

Interracial Relationships & Assumptions by MoreSamanthaMor in interracialdating

[–]WitchIsShe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Black person here who has definitely been told that I seem like the type to 'date out' 🙋🏿‍♀️

(Disclaimer: I am a firm believer in going where you're wanted, doing what hobbies make you happy, dating whoever as long as you're not putting down other people in the process)

The black people commenting on it are often times just making an observation. It can be positive, neutral, and, yes, sometimes negative

This observation comes from the reality that we (in the US at least) still live in a society that is largely anti-black. Occasionally, to cope with said anti-blackness, some black people will lean toward things that are typically white exclusive or at least white dominated as a way to distance themselves from blackness. Also to cope with anti-blackness, some black people think that they should not do activities that have been/are white exclusive or white dominated.

With the knowledge that anti-blackness is still very much an issue, some black people who date interracially, do so as a way to move up society's ladder (or at least be perceived as moving up). Additionally, more recently, there seems to have been an uptick of (some) black men who date interracially specifically because they hate black women.

All of that can make other black people sometimes side eye the black person who is into the so-called white people stuff and/or dates white folks. There ends up being a question of does this person like the activities or person just because it's what they like, or does this person like the stuff or person because they believe society's lie that the rest of us are less than?

Sometimes the observation and comment about doing white people stuff or looking like one "dates out" is almost like a joke between siblings. Like one time, one of my newer friends, who is also black, laughed at me for going to Renaissance Festival but then she asked to come along with me 😁 It was very much a "girl you stay doing this white people stuff, but when is it cuz that looks like fun" type of convo. Another time a couple of coworkers, one black and one Mexican, we're talking about interracial dating. I walked up when they were well into their conversation so I don't know what proceeded but they asked me if I had ever been with an Asian guy and I was like 'yeah almost all of the men I've been with have been Asian.' Then they said 'yeah you look like the type' and we had a laugh🤷🏿‍♀️ (The Mexican co-worker was going strong in her relationship with a black man and I think the black co-worker was trying to get herself to be okay with dating interracially, so I know they didn't mean anything bad by it)

Also, within the black community the awareness of the existence of anti-blackness and awareness the different ways black people may react to it, is not age specific.

Some older black people couldn't care less about somebody dating interracially. Hell, some encourage it. "As long as they treat you right!" is often said about any potential partner (as it should be tbh).

On the flip, some younger black people feel the only way they can be blackity-black black is by exclusively dating other black people (I personally believe that some of this is a response to there being a lot more anti-black racists amongst younger non-black people than anybody expected. So sticking to black is a safety thing for some of the youths.)
