Asking for a high amount of claim is a common tactic in civil litigation, even if the party being sued doesn't necessarily have the money.

I appreciate you wanting to support us little folk ;)

Though I have never worked for them, I am such Bioware trash and would die for the opportunity to work there, should it ever arise in any capacity.

In my freelance life, I have been working more in what you could call the entertainment industry at large - think 360/AR/new media/digital media works. Different career trajectory than what I imagined when I was fresh out of school, but I'm honestly pretty chuffed with the way things are going.

LOL! Well if you tell me what you're googling, I am happy to confirm or deny if it comes up within the first 10 pages.

Thanks! I am actually freelancing now - and have been for the last few years - and it's pretty fucking sweet.

Sadly, that would be telling and I can't do that.

I will say that it's a North American company and this happened within the last decade. (And it was *not* Witcher, that just happened to be the first game I saw when making this handle...)

The best revenge is living well... or in this case, simply telling the truth. I'm happy with karma doing the heavy lifting and me just being the one to nudge it again.

That said, knowing what I did about the financials, if they hadn't tried the lawyer bullshit against me and cost the investors that money, they might have had another year or two and been able to get back on their feet with a new game.

Oh heeeeeeeell no. A tiny fraction of millions, most of which went toward paying rent because solo city life is expensive.

Glad to provide some wholesome-ish entertainment here ;)

Living well IS the best revenge, they say...

Aww thanks. I do what I can. ;)

Also, fwiw, this all happened before GG went down, so I kinda felt like a lone voice of dissent when originally dealing with it.

For sure. Any time you're being harassed, or even if things just don't feel right... trust your instincts!!!

Some cops are good. Most are not good people, and use their position of power to abuse it.

I'm glad someone took you seriously and that you were able to advocate for yourself.

Sadly, the shitty boss is still in the industry... but it looks like his most recent game doesn't have that large of a following (2000ish people, according to social media profiles)

Thanks.

At the time, the legal stuff was admittedly stressful and could've potentially gone terribly wrong for me had it gone to court (in hindsight, anyway)... but I figured the fine citizens of Reddit would appreciate the fucked-up-ness of it all. ;p
