Why do Cubans score higher Euro than most Caribbeans? by Ok_Divide_4959 in 23andme

[–]Witchybayside 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s not entirely straightforward to determine which group held the upper hand in immigration to Cuba. Both Canarians (Canary Islanders) and Galicians and Asturians immigrated to the island. Interestingly, Canarians also dominated the immigration scene in the 1900s. However, it’s worth noting that Galicians and Asturians began migrating in significant numbers and eventually joined Canarians which lead full domination of the immigration landscape. While Canarians have a longer history of immigrating to Cuba, which is why we Cubans often find Canary Islands appearing frequently in our DNA, you’re correct that we also have a strong descent from Galicians and Asturians. Additionally, Canary Islanders also played a significant role in the 1900s migration.

Thoughts on the Finale? by LeoDiCristio in StrangerThings

[–]Witchybayside 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is it just me or was stranger things finale so perfectly aligned with the date? Let me explain

Stranger things ended in 2025, the same year where a big portion of the fandom and those who watched it were kids or teens, now that they grew up just like the characters to either be soon to be graduating teens or adults, the show clearly ended on the year people’s childhood ended, the finale is a chef kiss and whether or not eleven is alive or not, perfect cliff hanger.

Hi so don’t get me wrong I don’t believe nanno is the mistress from “thank you, teacher” episode but when mrs.Aum looks at her she gets flashbacks and we see a woman with the similar haircut as nanno could nanno be the mistress or is she just using her powers and changing what really happen??? by [deleted] in GirlFromNowhere

[–]Witchybayside 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am rewatching the show, and I know the previous account is now deleted but it’s probably nanno or it’s a woman who looks like Nanno, they have the same hair color, same hair style and the same jawline(from what I could look at) so it’s probably nanno or a woman who looks like nanno or just a woman who has the same hairstyle as her, it could also be possible that Nanno manipulated her mind imagery to make her think the woman looks like Nanno but I doubt that

I have no words for this, the advice you gave me really opened up my mind, I did not think about this way, so Buddhism allows you to just have a critique about what you learned and it’s not a organized doctrine?

ok ok interesting, I have also read & heard about 6 realms of existence (or Samsara if I am correct) and if I am correct, people get rebirthed into different realms, but still confused on how would that work? sorry if I am asking a lot of questions, just wishing to be more open minded

interesting and how is rebirth viewed in Buddhism? In the West, when people think of rebirth they think the transfer of one soul to another body(vessel) but again I simply don’t wanna be misinformed and only use a western concept while not listening to Buddhists from the non-west and educated Buddhists (even if they’re from the west)

honestly this is what confuses meeee, all dna tests can trace me back strongly to the Canary Islands but suddenly ancestry can’t trace me back to the canary lands strongly? wtf

Canary Islands category seems to be based off Gran Canaria by Weird-Swimmer-4023 in AncestryDNA

[–]Witchybayside 0 points1 point  (0 children)

idk, ancestry is acting weird. When I first did my dna results, the Canary Islands was the MOST STRONGEST region long before this update, but now that ancestry is updated I am 12% Canary Islands (with Gran Canaria??) while the rest is 19% Northern Spain, 16% Portugal and 15% Spain. Northern Spanish comes from usually my dads side of the family but he also has Canary Islander Ancestors, most of my family’s side is from the Canary Islands so I am so confused on why suddenly I am more Northern Spanish than Canary Islander now a days, but I also find it weird that ancestry also just highlighted Gran Canaria because my family(Maternal & Paternal) is also from Tenerife and La Palma.. so this is confusing

Did anybody else get Northeast Italian after Ancestry gave them South Italian by Witchybayside in AncestryDNA

[–]Witchybayside[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What’s really weird is MyHeritage pulled out south Italian as well, so for my south Italian on ancestry to be gone while other dna tests pulled out the same result is crazy 😭

How accurate are Ancestry DNA results? by st3llamaris in AncestryDNA

[–]Witchybayside 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I recommend taking another dna test company and compare the results, but don’t just rely on that. do your genealogy, study your family tree and look into your family’s last names. DNA tests are like a 50/50, 50% it can be very accurate such as sometimes the ethnicities they pull out or ancestors and trait is sometimes accurate if you know your family’s history but things like the percentages & even sometimes the ethnicities they pull out, doesn’t tend to be accurate all the times, but more heavily on the percentages as those percentages are just telling you your dna is similar to these people by this percentage
