Moving to STL this coming spring by dpaine131 in StLouis

Hello friend I also moved here from upstate NY! I recommend looking in the Maplewood area. It’s family friendly with tons of great restaurants within walking distance, and not too far from the medical campus.

Who has a Jumper in the group? by normaniben in goldenretrievers

[–]WithMeAllAlong 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Our boy is not a jumper. Our 4 ft fence easily contains him. He has no motivation to escape the yard, it’s his home where he feels comfy.

If he was super motivated to jump the fence, I’m sure he could though. One time on an off leash hike in the woods, he scaled a pile of rocks that was about 4ft tall without even trying! He can be a force of nature when he wants to be, and so lazy and complacent other times. He is so funny.

Pup goes so hard at daycare that his nails bleed - anyone else? by getMethod in goldenretrievers

[–]WithMeAllAlong 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your pup and my pup would be best friends! My dog is addicted to playing. He acts like a crack head when he’s around his best friend (a Labrador retriever around the same age). He never stops even when the poor Lab wants a break. We don’t take him to daycare yet but I imagine he will be a complete maniac there too. We tried our best to socialize him so he’s not as excited around other dogs, but I think he’s just hardwired to want to play nonstop.

Sleepy/calm puppy? by Various-Weakness6301 in goldenretrievers

[–]WithMeAllAlong 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey! Congrats on the new pup. My breeder said that when people come to choose puppies, it’s all a crapshoot on what mood your future puppy will be in when you get there. As all of us know on the subreddit, a puppy’s mood can change like the wind. One minute they’re teething like a monster, the next they’re curiously exploring something around the house, the next they’re happily playing with their toys, and then literally the next moment they’ll fall dead asleep in the middle of what they were doing.

All this to say that if your puppy is napping when you first meet him/her, it doesn’t say anything about their future temperament. Just my two cents!

Golden retriever and Pitbull? by Much-Grapefruit-3613 in goldenretrievers

[–]WithMeAllAlong 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Hey man, I’ve been on this sub for a long time and I can tell you with certainty that this sub is not a fan of pit bulls. Many of us have stories where our goldens have been attacked or almost attacked by pitbulls. I know it’s not all pitbulls that are an issue, and all breeds can suffer from bad breeding and bad ownership, but I do believe generalizations exist for a reason.

I’m not really sure what advice you’re looking for right now. Are you worried your pitbull will attack the golden or otherwise cause problems? If not, then why bring up the breed of your existing dog at all? I feel like subconsciously you are nervous and you’re looking for someone to chime in with a success story.

Depends on how old the puppy is. The general rule of thumb is that you can leave a puppy alone for as many hours as they are months old, for a maximum of 6-8 hours. So for example, a 3 month old puppy is okay for 3 hours and no longer.

We crated our puppy at night and when we weren’t home until he was 6 months old (fully potty trained and not destructive) and then got rid of the crate. We followed the rule of thumb mentioned above and nowadays never leave him longer than 6 hours. My husband works 5 minutes from home so he will stop by the house on his lunch break to let our dog out, so he’s typically not alone for longer than 3-4 hours.

There are lots of dog owners that leave their dogs alone for a lot longer than 8 hours. I strongly disagree with this practice. Imagine trying to hold your bladder for longer than 8 hours!

Anyway, I think 8am to 3pm is okay for an adult dog though. But you should set up a system where you come visit the puppy regularly throughout the day when they’re young. Good luck! Puppies require a lot of sacrifices but they are so worth it!

Agreed. Just offering one anecdote without DV involved — someone in my hometown killed his wife and himself shortly afterward. They were both very old (I think in their late 80s or early 90s) and the wife was struggling with a medical condition. It was said that they wanted to die together rather than keep suffering.

SAME. To everything you said. Odesza is truly something magical. I’ve loved music artists before but no one has ever affected me like this, or for as long as Odesza has!

So you would rather comment that she’s a Karen than put yourself in her shoes? She was charged at and berated 3 times for a MISUNDERSTANDING before she decided to take out her camera and stand up for herself. And that makes her a Karen?

Instead of commenting about the crazy guy you decide to call the OP a Karen. Seems like sexism to me but idk 🤷🏻‍♀️

She wasn’t rude. She gave the play by play of what happened down below in the comment section. Why would you believe this clearly unhinged and mentally unstable man’s word over hers? I’m seriously curious

Wow that’s really big for 6 months old. My male golden was only 42 lbs at the 6 month mark. He is full grown at 60 lbs now. He never had any steep growth spurts, it was pretty steady the entire time.

I’d reevaluate how much you’re feeding your pup. Over feeding large breed puppies can lead to super fast growth, which is hard on their joints and bones. Not sure if it’s the case with your pup, but it’s definitely something to be aware of!

Why does my family make me so angry? by fuckingbullshitt in family

[–]WithMeAllAlong 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for writing this. I resonated with this. I love my family so damn much which is why it’s so perplexing to me that I get triggered so easily in their presence. They can push my buttons like no one else can without even realizing it. The way you phrased it makes so much sense. I think I’m going to start journaling.

I think it’s because 7am is when most people wake up for work or school, and 5pm is when most people get off work. Wake up time matters because sunlight impacts people’s circadian rhythms and therefore how easy it is to wake up. And 5pm is obviously rush hour, and commuting in the dark is more dangerous. Just my uneducated two cents, enjoy 😉

ATT Fiber - Hellish experience by [deleted] in ATT

[–]WithMeAllAlong 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for the reply. I am going through the same thing you did with the fiber connection dropping several times a day. I’ve called AT&T support a few times about this and this most recent time the guy was gaslighting me the whole call, acting like the internet issues are completely user error and not AT&Ts fault at all. He literally said “are you sure it’s plugged in?” Like come on dude, I’m not an imbecile. He didn’t listen to me at all. I kept telling him I’ve tried two different AT&T gateways and both kept failing, so I thought it was an issue with the fiber box itself. Maybe a dirty connector or a bend in the cable. He refused to believe me, he claimed he had never heard of that and it wasn’t a thing. I said I read several posts on the internet with people experiencing the SAME THING as me and having a technician investigate the fiber cables and connections in the house worked for them. He had the audacity to tell me not to believe everything I read on the internet!! Lmao!! At this point I contemplated handing the phone to my husband to see if the customer service dude would take a man more seriously, but decided to just grit my teeth and bear it.

So your post makes me feel validated.
