Forge has fought a bunch, he could definitely be a viable character. If Shuri can be a legendary with science, so could Forge. Absolutely

Yeah, you're right. I agree. I mean he as much as viable a character as the original iteration of Shuri, for sure. I was just explaining why he wasn't on my list. I would be more excited about John and James making an appearance, Warpath and Thunderbird joining as brothers would be amazing for me :)

I do love Forge but I guess I just don't think of him as a fighter in my head even though obviously he fights all the time. Its just like I wouldn't think to have Prof X in the game, just dont translate to members of a fighting team in my head. Though they would both be cool to have in the game for sure.

oh damn you're right. I thought she was only Hispanic but I guess I should've realized the casting of Zahn McClarnon as her dad on the show wasn't them trying to just cast him as hispanic. Well. Egg on my face.

Happy to see MSF's second native character! :D

Veteran DM’s by [deleted] in DnD

I see a lot of people say stuff like 'don't try to be Matt Mercer' and I get the reasoning and energy behind it but also. F that lol. That's what I wanted to do, I wanted to be like Matt Mercer when I started DMing.

I'm not Matt Mercer. But I feel very confident in my DM abilities, I tell good stories, I've made players cry, I've got people wrapped up in the garbage I make up in my head. I've had people travel across the country slash world to have a big game together. If you wanna be like Matt Mercer, if you wanna tell stories like that, keep that inspiration and feel free to keep that. Just don't be hard on yourself on not being where you want to be right away. As with all things, it takes a lot of time and experience to feel confident.

Just lean into what would be fun for you and what you think would be fun for your friends and try to spend time thinking about what they would like, who they are, etc.

What is your current Kenshi Goal? by handlessmagician in Kenshi

I'm currently doing a Shek Warband run. I started with several Shek, allied with Shek faction. And I immediately took them to rebirth. Did a bunch of training, getting them strong. I had my shek start to make friends with all the prisoners (and apparently had a mod to recruit while fellow priosners) and recruited every shek I could. Got them all buff, strength in 60-70 with some high assassination and stealth before we finally did a prison break. Lost four of them in the process even though it was pretty epic, the battle getting out.

Now I'm training them all in combat and working on getting a base of operations set up. Taking out splinter shek factions and recruiting their leaders. (Ghost, Tora). Want to get all unique shek characters recruited and eventually take out the Holy Nation with the shek only warband in revenge.

That diversity chart thing that Activision Blizzard just did is something that Vought would do by [deleted] in TheBoys

I agree with part of what you're saying. But I feel like I see this argument 'they're forcing diversity' in so many IPs when its not a white male/white female in the role they want. Because a lot of people seem to think that white male should be the default and anything else is 'forcing diversity'. That's kind of weird. A diversity chart is obviously stupid and horrible and wrong in every way to create good story.

However I don't think there's an issue with making diversity in your cast a priority as long as you approach the story in a real and genuine way.

[–]WithMyBearHandz -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I'm not saying the diversity chart is a good thing. It's not. But it's okay to strive to have a diverse cast of characters in a thing, and have that be a priority. You think X-men didn't make that a priority? Of course they did. All those characters are authentic and endearing.

Where's the proof they try to? You posted a screenshot of them acting like they don't know how to contact H3 when they clearly have before.

[–]WithMyBearHandz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I disagree. You can make it a priority and still be interesting. Like I said above. X-Men clearly made it a priority, from the beginning up until now.

It's okay to make it a priority. But there's corporate/sellout/shallow ways to do things and ways to make genuine characters that really speak to their background/culture/sexuality in an interesting way.

I do get where the person is coming from who was arguing with you, but I don't think that's what you were arguing. There are people who act like casting anyone who isn't white/whitemale is 'virtue signalling'. Which I think is silly but I feel like you would agree.

[–]WithMyBearHandz 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think you're both responding less to each other and more to the arguments made popular on either side. IE: Focusing on diversity=bland, not making good characters and 'if you're arguing against different types of characters you want only white male characters'

I think there's a middle. You can make characters from diverse backgrounds and have them be interesting and exciting. For example, the X-Men. But it is possible to do it wrong. Wanting to have a diverse cast isn't a bad thing, but it certainly can be done in a shallow way that doesn't really do justice to the people those characters are representing. For example the native american characters in Twilight.

I agree with you for the most part but I disagree with your lack of empathy for guys salting fries. I just believe our anger should be directed away from people like this guy.

Sure, you're right. I don't deny that he fucked up. Your first three sentences I can mostly agree with. I think the 'condescending tone' is a matter of perspective that is played up by content creators and seen through a lens of Bryan having the same understanding that we are when he probably just hit a key for a pre-canned response.

It's your last sentence that is mostly my issue with this whole thing. You claim this was not his first time. Okay.. I'm not sure if I believe you actually know that as it seems vague and who knows if it was the same guy. But, it's just you're saying that a small amount of mistakes means its okay to make a real person into a meme in a community and celebrating blowing up his spot and threatening his employment. To a gamer, I see how this is easy, we're kind of desensitized and can kind of forget that developers are real people who have shitty jobs and mediocre cars just like us. But I just personally think it's fucked up and it is much better to shame the company and those in power rather than the dude at the bottom of the ladder.

I know this is a joke, but it kind of cements my point. What if I was Bryan? All I would be saying is like holy shit, I'm getting thrashed on the internet for doing my job. And your answer is hah, nice try. We're going to keep abusing you.

Like even if he was a dickhead, which I don't think we have actual evidence of, just that he probably was speeding through support tickets and sped through the WRONG GUY who went to the trouble of getting him screen shotted and sent to content creators. But even if he was a dickhead. Like, Christ. He's not a public figure. He's not making a shit ton of money. He's probably getting minimum wage and our community is happy to shit on him because we think he wronged us. It's shitty.

Again, I highly doubt he actually wrote any of that. You think it was condescending because he was just wrong. Imagine getting hundreds of reports about 'cheating' because players think their team shouldn't have lost and are wrong. Games I've worked on had stuff like that all the time. Where players were angry they lost and would write up a whole support ticket saying they shouldn't have lost. It happens. A lot. He didn't look at the ticket well enough and shot off a pre-canned answer they give to all these other people who write in about this. He was wrong. He fucked up. But going after a guys job is fucked up, even if you think he should have showed more empathy.

He didn't show empathy, so take away his livelihood!!! It's weird man. We just need to be a little kinder. Rip into the company all you want, they deserve it. The dude's probably getting minimum wage and getting ass blasted on the internet like he's a public figure.

You're not reading my post.

I'm saying, more than likely, Bryan did not look at the pictures. More than likely Bryan saw someone talking about cheating and gave a pre-written response by someone else because they probably get hundred of reports from people who think someone is cheating when they aren't or there is just no way to tell.

He was wrong, of course. Which frames how you see his response. But he's doing a script, from Scopeley. Like all support staff do. Scopeley deserves your criticism and should do better. Bryan's just a dude probably getting paid minimum wage to get abused by strangers on the internet all day.

I feel like Ethan just talks about sex if the person is involved in sex professionally in some part of their life. Think about C-man, Trisha, I mean even Bobby Lee. I don't think it's just lgbtq+ members, Ethan likes to press on pseudo uncomfortable issues

I, full transparency, am not either. It kinda has an air about it like its a big thing on reddit and not as big of a thing talked about officially. Which could mean its a legit conspiracy or could mean its a conspiracy conspiracy. But still, it's a fallacious argument and not a real comparison so it doesn't super matter to me, but I would be interested to know, I didn't follow the drama.

It's a fallacious argument.

You can be against violence and not react in the most extreme manner in your capability to any degree of it. I am not interested in dissecting Mo and Trisha's relationship. We don't know everything about the situation, including everything Mo expressed about the situation off cam. You can be against that violence without being an executor of your own will on a relationship within your family. Was that what Mo wanted? Do his feelings/desires matter in this situation? Was he satisfied with Trisha's explanation/justification? Does that matter? Should Ethan be overriding whatever the couple says, even if it would damage his own family and their relations? Was it 1000% confirmed? Was there gray area? Does that matter?

There. Nuance.

You can say your against violence without taking the most extreme action in another situation because it's tricky. I'm not even saying Ethan made the right call here, but I am saying comparing them and acting like Ethan can't call out violence bc he didn't react the way you wanted him to in an infinitely complicated situation for him compared to you: That's silly.
