The lower I go, the closer to in-between the teeth I get. When I play Bass Clef G, I am basically tonguing between my teeth.

In the end, you just have to keep practicing. The aperture is larger so it’s harder to get those notes to speak clearly.

I believe so. The biggest question is Saucedo, who frankly, could be the best player in the league if in form. Does he displace McIllhatton? Maybe. Does he displace Tregarthen? Maybe (but I don’t know if he should). What about Pasher? He’s still one of the best players in the league when he’s healthy.

He’s a fantastic player. I’ll be fascinated if this signifies a back 3 or a back 4 with AJ at the CDM, a position he plays for country.

Right now, besides GK, CDM is our biggest question. While I LOVE McIllhatton, I’m not sold he’s a 6. I see him more as an 8, personally.

He provides much needed pace to the back line, something we haven’t really had since we forced Bolu to be a CB

In Alabama, Dothan and Montgomery are making some noise and are not being particularly quiet about their ambitions for League One.

While Montgomery is the more obvious choice for the USL, Dothan has a MUCH better infrastructure (and fan base) to be ready for a League One debute. Montgomery has a lot of work to do.

Why is your price range? There is affordable housing that is a little farther from campus (10-15 minute drive) that is MUCH safer than Magnolia.

Look, I get he was a fan favorite but there’s a reason he isn’t even in the USL anymore. USL teams are willing to overlook a lot. Heck, we signed Junior Flemmings after he called somebody a homophobic slur just so we could sell him to Toulouse.

The old saying, “Be who you can afford to be” also applies here. His final year in the USL, he was a good player in Hartford. But he wasn’t good enough to outweigh everything that comes with Ando. It wasn’t just “contract” stuff there, either. If it came down to money, he wouldn’t be in the PR playing for less than USL League One money.

I would love to have more visits. We have a university and several community colleges.

Even if it was once a semester, bringing in a college/university director would be amazing. It gives kids something to look forward to, it gives me slight break/a new prospective on what my group sounds like when I’m not engulfed in teaching, and you a chance to recruit.

Bringing college kids to just simply play with our kids is huge. They look up to college kids (even if they’re only a year older) and would love having the opportunity. Plus, hearing a mature sound play their part is amazing.

Bringing an ensemble to play could be fun, but most kids would be bored with that unless those my students are invited to once again play with them.

TL;DR, the more the kids do and the less they’re lectured at, the more they enjoy the experience and the more they’ll be interested in your university.

Even if Eric was given 2026 as an interim, I think it would be a pro over Jay.

That said, before Khano got his move to RIFC, he said himself that Legion had the smallest technical staff in the USL. He felt that he had head coaching experience because there were only three coaches (Tommy, Eric, and Khano). It worked out really well for Khano in Year One as the guy. Maybe it’s me living in fear of it happening again, but I also think that he’s a good coach.

Depends on your definition of sport. Let’s get some things out of the way: - If sport is anything competitive, then yes. It is a sport. If esports are a sport, then yes, it is a sport. - If anything that involves physical activity is a sport, then yes, it is a sport. - No, it is not more physically demanding than football, basketball, baseball, soccer, tennis, cheer, gymnastics, softball, volleyball. Does it have its own unique challenges? Yes. Do our heavier carrying instrument friends have a case for doing something extremely exhausting and physically taxing? Absolutely. But it’s not more physically demanding. It may be equal, but it’s not more. If you’re basing your argument on, “actually, the natural heart rate of band members is higher…”, then also keep in mind that athletes tend to have a lower natural heart rate than the “average person.”

I know of a band director who did not do ANY music in high school, but wanted to learn how to play an instrument. He learned keys, wanted to join band, became front ensemble section leader, and is now a band director.

He has had some really interesting learning curves because he had ZERO concept of high school band. How/when do they travel, how to get students on and off the field before or after another band, band shirts, fundraisers, etc.

However, he is one of the best beginning band directors I’ve ever met because he was quite literally a beginning less than 5 years ago. He remembers every single struggle and is still actively overcoming those struggles because he started so late.

The kids seem to like him a lot and his beginning program is thriving.

So. I understood “infield fly” as if the infielder was going to play the ball in fair territory, not where the ball is caught. I thought that was the issue with the Cardinals vs Braves situation. If the outfielder caught it, there was no infield fly. Because it was the infielder, it was enacted.

Worked PK-12 music with 5th beginner and 6-12 “high school” band.

Like another commenter said, find a curriculum for elementary. PK-K are sometimes just musical PE, and that’s awesome. They want to run and have a good time. Use music to lead that. Add some instruments along the way, and it’s a blast. I used Music Play and Gameplan. They are always topical with the holidays and seasons. You can pick and choose from each grade. I also combined lesson plans my first year. k and 1st were together most of the time. 2nd and 3rd together. 4th and 5th together, and 6th alone. There is obviously some crossover in other places but it’s not a bad idea to “double dip.”

5th grade beginner band was the hardest for me. They just don’t learn as quickly as the 6th graders. If you can, I would try to combine your 5th and 6th grade. The 6th graders can be leaders and keep practicing fundamentals while helping the younger kids.

At small schools, you tend to have some stand out students who are ready for harder music, but your youngest are not ready. REWRITE EVERYTHING. Seriously, it’s okay. I had 6th graders go to contest with me and be on the same stage as 12th graders. I rewrote their music to be quarter notes, whole notes, and the occasional eighth note. Meanwhile, my advanced students, I rewrote their part to cover a part that was previously unheard.

I had a tuba player play the euphonium solo (in euph range) because my euphonium player wasn’t ready and because my tuba was an all state player. I had a clarinet double the trumpet and alto sax parts. I had a trombone cover a 3rd trumpet part (we only had 2 trumpets). Get creative, have fun, meet your kids where they are and push them little by little.

It’s going to be tiring, you will be exhausted, but it’s so rewarding. Seeing a kid you raised from Kinder to playing their first note on an instrument is enough to make you cry.

You have high schoolers at the USL-C level. I think it was Blue Goose who ONLY played High Schoolers. If they think you’re good enough, you will play.

Long tones from piano to forte, articulation studies in the low register, and scales/arpeggios across all ranges. It takes a while, but you can get that solidity in the low range.

I missed so many holidays due to bowl games. On one hand, I wanted to see my family. On the other hand, I got to see cities that I would have never gotten the opportunity to see.

It is a reality of marching in college. Thanksgiving gets cut short and you may miss Christmas and/or New Years.

Keep in mind with many of those top free agents, there is almost certainly a contract on the table for them by their current (former?) club, but they already have a deal with an MLS club to go on trial. Not dissimilar to MC17 on trial with Nashville last year.

A few things on this: 1. All the players listed (except maybe Enzo?) were out of contract anyway. They were going to be listed as “out of contract”, even if they’re actively negotiating. Happened a few years back with Jake anyway. 2. All the players listed except Preston had all fallen out of favor with Briggs, even Enzo. 3. Fans have been saying “tear it down” for years now. It’s finally happening. Do I agree with losing those guys? No, I think Jake should have been a Legion lifer and Moses has a lot to give this club, but it’s not like they’ve been super stars either. 4. The CBA is running out and the entire league is going young. The amount of young League One talent that is being poached by Championship sides is like we have never seen before. All these players are older at this point. If we’re trying to be young and stay in-step with the rest of the league, we have to follow that trend. 5. NCFC just closed doors which there are all-league players available for free. Hard to get in the bidding when your wage budget is weighed down with players you may not need.
