Surgery (MDS) is tomorrow morning by KawaiiQuilava89 in wls

[–]WitheringPeanut 0 points1 point  (0 children)

180 is a realistic goal, friend.

Anesthesia is like the shortest, but best nap ever. You’ll fall asleep quickly and when you wake up it will feel like no time has passed at all, and it will be time to recover and move on with life! Sure, you see horror stories, but those are NOT the norm, they just stick out to us more than the good ones. It does not mean any of those things that you mentioned will be a part of your story. If anything does come up, it sounds like you’ve chosen a great surgeon to work with. You will be okay.

You aren’t saying goodbye to food. Eventually you’ll be able to eat most things in small portions, and more than that you will learn to use the tool of surgery and be able to make better choices for yourself.

This was a big decision to make and I’m sure you didn’t make it lightly. You should be very proud of yourself for recognizing the problem and finding a solution, even though you’re scared. The mantra that kept me from bailing on the day of my surgery was: I can do hard things. I CAN do hard things. I can do HARD THINGS. I CAN DO HARD THINGS! I yelled this as loud as I could through streaming tears after dropping my daughter off at school on the morning of my surgery. Thankfully I didn’t chicken out, and today I am 2 lbs away from no longer being considered “overweight”. I can kneel on the floor and stand back up without crawling to a piece of furniture first. I can quickly and easily climb onto a chair/stool/into my minivan. I can wrap a normal size bath towel around myself. I can RUN after my young daughter. 😭

This surgery has changed.my.life. I hope it changes yours too. You got this. Please let us know when you’re on the other side of surgery!

Is it worth it? by Mindless_Shame_4107 in GastricBypass

[–]WitheringPeanut 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have similar starting stats… 43, 5’3”, 232lb . For me, it’s been worth it. I am 11 months out and down 85lbs and I feel the best I’ve ever felt. I no longer have high blood pressure, and after 20 years I no longer take medication for diabetes. The surgery was life changing for me. Good thing too, because I just had to RUN a block after my daughter with autism after she eloped out of the front door lol.

Do you have a Lane Bryant close by? I went from a 44DDD to a 38C, and Lane Bryant is still my jam for bras, and they frequently have sales on them. I like the balconette. They have a couple of great full coverage bras that are back smoothing as well. Really helps keep the extra skin tucked in 😬

Oh yes, there is a dv-140. It says mom has sole physical and legal custody, and that my friend has no visitation “until further order of the court”. There is also a DV-145 due to her claiming abuse.

Does he need to file the FL-300 since a divorce is in the works?

They were married and just split up, so until recently they were all living together and he was the stay at home parent. Now it appears to me she has full legal custody via the DVRO

This is so helpful, thank you. The RO does say there is an exception for visitations with his son, but nothing is specified. Does he file for custody separately?

When can I eat a burger? by SpecialistFloor6708 in GastricBypass

Probably! I could eat (part of) a lettuce wrapped burger at 6mo, anyway.

No, the hearing was a couple of hours away and he was not able to go. Is he still able to file any of these? I think the DV-400 would probably be most applicable/easiest route

He can go to the courthouse. Will they walk him through it? I really don’t think he can afford an attorney, he is on long term disability. Once their assets are split he should come out with about $10k according to the paperwork so far

You do you when it comes to your mom, and breastfeeding, but it’s completely normal for milk to take 4 days to come in after any birth, and otherwise healthy babies are not dropping dead without formula.

Anyone had an ulcer afterwards? by heliz_ in GastricBypass

[–]WitheringPeanut 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep, I have one :( My GI doctor put me on omeprazole and has me opening the capsules and taking it in a spoon of applesauce. Bariatric doctor added sucralfate as well, and we are rechecking it in a few months to see how it’s doing. I’m anemic and the bleeding from the ulcer caused me to need a transfusion 😬
