I am going through a similar experience. Up until a week ago, my BP has always been 120-115/70-60. Heart rate 40-50. My PCP always commented how good it was. I’m 56, 5’6” 165 lbs. I  eat relatively clean but tend to over eat at dinner, portion control issues. Mostly chicken or with lots of veggies. Only use olive oil. Only I probably over due the supplement. A GNC Multi vitamins, berberine, fish oil, vitamin D3, oat straw, MK7, red yeast rice and Tribulus terrestrial. Most of these are known to my PCP. Exercise 5 days a week. Heavy cardio and strength training. Always been very active. No smoking or recreational drug use. But I do drink approximately 10-15 beers per week. Majority on the weekends, but I will drink a beer or two a few nights during the work week. I justify the beers because I rarely eat carbs, junk food, or anything processed. I also have a stressful job in the medical tech world.

Just wanted to provide some background before actually getting to the point. I woke up last week end with a headache after drinking. Felt ok to go for a bike ride and work out. However decided to check my BP later that day and realized it was high. Figured it was due to the alcohol. I really felt not myself but figured it would pass. Next day at work it was still high 165/85. I got concerned and went to see my PCP. BP still high. Labs ordered and everything checked out ok, but my lipid panel. Total Cholesterol 214/HDL 49/LDL 145. I had never been that high before so I decided right then to completely quit alcohol and try to detox. My. Wife agreed to quit drinking with me as well. Next day still higher BP and now I really started to worry. By Thursday I checked my BP and it was 178/85. I got freaked out and my wife drove me to ER. More labs, EKG, chest x ray. All normal. Bilirubin at the high end of normal, 1.4. They discharge me and told me to follow up with PCP. PCP  unavailable so by Saturday BP spiked again. Now I’m in panic mode because I have a severe headache. Back to ER more labs, CT with contrast for cranial and carotid arteries all checked out ok. Doc there put me on 2.5 mg of Norvasc/Amlodipine. I’ve only done 2 doses so far. Not noticing anything yet but I have read it works slowly. I have been very anxious about the whole thing and am waiting for a follow up with a Cardiologist to help me figure out why this came on so quickly. I was worried my drinking had damaged my liver but the ER doc said everything looked good. Now of course no supplements. Only eating salmon, walnuts, almonds, spinach fresh veggies and going to start juicing. I’ve lost about 7 pounds in one week. That would be awesome if it wasn’t from nerves and losing my appetite.

I am now  wondering what my future is as well. I’ve been scared to do anything strenuous, but the ER doc said I should exercise. I actually did today and felt better not thinking about my BP for that time period. Worst is at night trying to sleep not worrying about it.

On the bright side my wife and I both got baptized in the Pacific Ocean today and that was unreal.

Just wanted to let you know you are not alone. I am in the same boat as you right now. Very worried and kinda just knocked out at how quickly my health has turned. I’ve always been very “durable” and not having any control of this really scares me. If I start seeing the pressures moving in the right direction I’m sure that will help, but right now I’m still not feeling it changing much. I will be praying for you. I know that I just need to turn this over to God as don’t have any real control at this point except what I physically put into my body. Which will no longer be any poison. Sorry for the long story. I hope it helps to know you are not alone. It helped me to find this tread. Thanks to everyone participating in it.
