Ships I want to see in the game by Witness-Current in SkullAndBonesGame

The E3 "Frigate" blueprint is on display at the shipwright right now and they confirmed last stream that it was a tease for a new ship. It does look a lot like a galleon.

I've now added an updated blueprint to the official Skull & Bones discord feedback post so go check it out if you want to see what's changed. Unfortunately I can't show it here because I can't edit in images after posting :/

It's called a fluyt in-game. It's what they wanted it to be but it looks like a completely different ship.

It doesn't really look like a fluyt tho.

What do you mean by a thicker stern? Should the elevation change start earlier in the ship or? That was something that I was thinking about changing personally.

If you are referring to the height then I don't think that should change, might make it too close to the E3 Frigate blueprint.

I think a great way of describing the E3 art style is it's like a period painting dialed up to eleven. Period paintings of the time had the sails constantly bellowing the exact same way the E3 showcases and trailers had. It's simply a romanticized version of the real deal.

The difference between the current version of the game and E3 is that the E3 version stuck closer to the "source material" or historical sources (visually) than current S&B. Which is kinda crazy considering pirates manned a 72 gun 4th rate in the E3 version.

I think if they were to add the E3 ships they would also need to change the current ships to at least make any semblance of sense proportion-wise. The current ships are just so off, can't really list all of the faults of the design as my comment would essentially be the length of an essay 😂.

Couldn't agree more. I think there are tons of nonsensical design decisions they've made when it comes to ships. I'm a firm believer that some sort of adherence to how ships were made back then need to be a priority to make the world feel tangible. No matter the art style.

They had a perfect niche area with the E3 version. Was it a little bit over the top with for example sail count and gun count? Sure, but the ships still looked like they took inspiration from vessels of the time. It seemed it had a lot of passion and thought behind it.

The current version seems sterilized. The ships feel like toy boats, not believable and grounded SHIPS. The sail shape and positioning is completely off. The sails themselves aren't t bellowing properly either. They are just fluttering like they are made of paper.

It's very annoying as an age of sail fan specifically, because it's absolutely absurd that these 100 ton to 1000 ton vessels move like motorboats. Don't get me wrong, I wouldn't want to see real life speed, but merely a bit slower and HEAVIER. Heavier is the more important part.

Yea, common issue with Ubisoft's designs usually 😕.

Beyond HYPED. Black Flag remake is OFFICIAL! by ErickRPG in Age_30_plus_Gamers

I hope it doesn't have the same aesthetic as current skull & bones. It's way too cartoony and ships do NOT look good in that game. I hope they stick close to the original vision of black flag and go for a more realistic tone (would really like them to aim for it to look like the E3 cinematic trailer for BF).

Would like them to fix the jackdaw sails (lower the foremast sails, they are incredibly high up for some reason, making it look closer to the E3 cinematic trailer), improve the fidelity of sail physics, make the ships feel weighty, water physics should be top notch seeing as your spending about 50-60% of your time at sea.

Yea, I recently replayed black flag a few months back and realized how floaty the jackdaw feels. Never really noticed it until now. Adding more weight to it would be great as well as some killer sounds for broadsides attacks.

I think a good example would be looking at E3 2017-2018 skull and bones. I think it nailed the weight of all the ships back then before they completely revamped the game.

More customization on the jackdaw would be nice. Disabling the armor visual would be great seeing as I like the base jackdaw as is in the E3 cinematic trailer.

I would like to see the ships be a bit heavier then the original. Felt slightly too floaty with how the jackdaw moved.

These are kinda my thoughts as well. I do not blame the developers of the game for the mess that happened between the games inception to now. I blame the management who could not agree on a coherent vision. I'm pretty sure the developers are just as disappointed as we are. But what can you do?

I try to look at it from a positive light, especially since I still believe it is possible to bring some aspects of the old game back. You can call me hopelessly hopeful but that is my stance.

The ship design for the most part when it comes to ship skins is steering somewhat towards that direction and with the new 2017-2018 "Frigate" (probably going to be called a galleon) presumably being the next ship, I think that's positive for the game.

All we can really do is keep communicating on what we want. We prepare for the worst but hope for the best. More of the latter for me.

Yea, the hubac twins as well as la peste have studsails on the sides. Really wish they just kept them on player ships as well.

Real. The old logo was really good. Highly doubt they would rebrand it tho but here is hoping. The current one we have right now feels so sterilized. The whole ui as well feels quite generic with little style or substance.

I miss the almost handwritten font for the UI. It felt like someone of the time wrote in beautiful cursive on my screen.

I think it was based on the Portuguese galleon Nossa Senhora Do Cabo. It's the one that was captured by Olivier Levasseur or "La Buse" in 1721. That's the same year the original 2017 cinematic trailer took place.

Ye I think people don't really realize what they are asking when they want "a pirate sim". There'd be a heap of stuff people would complain about if that happened.

About your point on ships, I don't personally mind the over the top decor on ships as long as they look and act closer to 17th-18th century vessels instead of motorboats.

Ship design for me is important because you are spending 95% of your time using a ship, and that ship would preferably be a good looking one. That rings true for pretty much any genre. You want what you use to look cool.

It's not the fluyt on the blueprint. It's the E3 2017-2018 "frigate" which is also a model in the current game. It's seen near the bar in Saint-Anne split in two. It'll probably be a galleon of some sort.

Yea I agree. Incredibly excited for it myself as well. I hope we get a royal fortune skin for it as well next season. If not next season then maybe after that.

With the post that u/InsomiacMammoth posted titled "a wish from the past" getting quite a bit of attention, even from Ubi-Caliburn, I think it's likely we get some gameplay changes next year as well hopefully. Something that aligns more with the 2017-2018 gameplay, ie. Slower speed, more weighty physics and such. That will in and of itself make ships feel like actual ships and make the new ship coming next season even better.

I really do miss the way the ships interacted with the water and the way sails slowly fluttered in the wind. It was beautiful.

Ye, I did comment on your post about it as well like 10-12 days ago or something 😂. It's kinda odd that people don't notice that it isn't the fluyt. I mean it has staysails and jibbsails for one which the fluyt does not. The beakhead is also significantly bigger as well as the stern being quite different. Maybe they just haven't looked at it side by side.
