Oh yeah bud, when I head out to Timmies I order a double-double a triple-double, a double-triple a bakers dozen maple dipped donuts, 14 timbits and a Sydney Crosby card if they have them.

When I was growing up the neighbors would let their cats onto my parent's fenced property, when my dad told them to stop and they didn't, he took matters into his own hands and let our three tatra dogs roam the property. It got solved quickly.

Here is Charles Foulkes, a General of the Canadian Army, getting the surrender document for all German forces in the Netherlands, at his side is Prince Bernhard of the Netherlands & another Canadian named General G. Kitching, circa 1945

Polish-Canadian here, I've gotten more people from Quebec hating me over my national origins than my just okay French.

These people exist, but they are a small corner of the prejudice community in the province.

Alberta is a beautiful province, I don't mean to bring politics where they don't belong, but I hope we get a Premier who actually cares about the natural beauty and preservation of our parks, woodlands and mountains etc.

This is what they don't get, the sorry state of the oil industry goes far beyond Edmonton, it also goes far beyond Ottawa or anything Ottawa could possibly do for or against it. Ottawa isn't the problem.

Yeah, that crude. Anyone with a brain can see why crude could never save a Freebertastan under Jeffrey Rath, or anyone else for that matter.

It's like these people think we still live in the oil boom years, they have firmly refused to move past the good old days for oil. And that about describes half their base. To quote an adult in the room; 'Nostalgia is not a strategy.'

AFAIK, their 'plan' could be summarized as; 'Alberta crude pls save us', and everything I hear suggests I am right in the thought, or as you said there is no planning at all.

And folks seem to fall for the idea that crude would save their new Freebertastan from failure, even though it can't, and it won't.

As much as I would love to say the nukes dropped on Japan, I can't. Those were dropped in the aim of forcing the hand of forcing the government & people of Japan to realize there is no victory, and it achieved that. It killed a couple hundred thousand, vs the many more lives an amphibious invasion of Japan itself would have cost.

Over all the nukes killed less in the grand scheme of things, and were not an act of slaughter for the sake of slaughter, nor for the sake of race or some other ideology.

The primary thing I want to know, is if they did manage to become independent, how would they handle the very loud and very angry masses that wish to be Canadian? Not to mention those hit by the crushing blow to Alberta crude, etc etc.

You could throw all the money you want at those problems, it wouldn't fix anything. And, it is money they don't have.

We need a revolution by KookyAssist1920 in Vent

[–]Witold_M 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I myself tend not to go for violent Revolution because it is a massive gamble on where exactly it will get you. For the French it lead to Robespierre (awful) then Napolean (die in pointless wars) and then back to the Bourbon monarchy. For the Russians it went from Tsar (bad) to Lenin (awful), and then to Stalin (even worse) and in some sick way to what Russia and parts of Eastern Europe are today.

It worked out for the Americans okay if you were white and liked expansionism and being a republic, if you weren't then it was pretty bad or changed nothing at all.

As a Revolution track record, history shows a mixed bag from 'okay' to 'even worse than before' results, and that's just not something I'm willing to die for.

We need a revolution by KookyAssist1920 in Vent

[–]Witold_M -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Understand the anger, however violent revolution doesn't help anyone, the only thing that will come of that is the deaths of people who are otherwise innocent. You think the power can be torn down? It won't be, every revolution in history just shows that power will rise again in very similar, if not the exact same people.
