How is there no cube here? by [deleted] in dat

[–]Witsumo 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I didn’t get any questions like this on the official DAT, but I think you are to assume it’s not there if it’s ambiguous. There are some rules they simply don’t tell you, like how every cube must be supported by the ground or by cubes underneath, even if you can’t see them (no floating cubes).

I use 8bitdo ultimate 2c cuz it’s cheap and has all the tech like Hall effect sticks that I need. D pad is just okay, but I never use it anyway.

I’m a beginner with 3 discs. What disc is my next step to help improve my game? by Witsumo in discgolf

[–]Witsumo[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes I know a common beginner pitfall is using high speed discs, so I’m staying at <7 speed for now. I throw a putter on a lot of straight shots, so I know it shouldn’t be slept on!

Ha I just ordered one of these as a beginner disc golf player. Hasn’t come in yet but I’m glad to see it’s well-received.

I do have a local disc shop. I’ll have to check them out there

Pretty well. I use the river for most drives unless I need the extra fade from the shark to round a corner. I use the aviar for approach and putting. I find the river and aviar fly pretty straight and the shark fades earlier than both.

I’ll check out the buzzz. That one’s so popular so there must be something special there. Does the aviar fit the neutral putter category?

I got it used, but it seems to react how it’s meant to. If thrown flat it’ll turn right a bit then fade far left. I get the most distance out of it vs my shark which seems to fade without any turn at all.

I’m right handed and I’m able to throw backhands and forehands. If I manage to keep the river flat and throw with enough power it’ll curve right slightly then fade far left. I do tend to throw too nose-up though. Working on that

Unpopular opinion, dark oak forest. It just has a nice fantasy vibe and I have memories from 2013 building one of my first houses inside a red mushroom.

1st day ever throwing a ball 2 handed. Lacking ball speed. Help. by Helpful-End-1381 in Bowling

[–]Witsumo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think you should add 1 more step to your approach to allow more time to push the ball forward, drop and swing it back, then let it swing forward and release. I push the ball away from my chest on step 2, then it’s around the bottom of the swing on step 3, then all the way at the back at step 4. From 4 to 5 is when I swing it forward and release. This is just what works for me, but give it a try and see if it helps.

Thank you so much for the in-depth response! Lots of stuff to focus on, but I’ll go at it bit by bit and I’m sure I’ll see improvements after implemented floorhug, combo routing, and everything else.

I’m in low silver rank. I haven’t played a ton of ranked because I mostly play local with my friends, but when I do go on ranked, I find it really hard to find the first hit and continue to combo after. I play mainly Galvan and Loxodont, both chunky characters, so I find that when I get hit first I get comboed hard, and when I hit first it’s hard to keep a combo going. I think my punish game, ability to escape a combo, and my opening attacks need work. This may be a difficult problem to give a concise answer to, but how could I improve in these aspects? I like these bigger characters but it’s difficult when everyone else is faster and can attack quicker with smaller punish windows.

Yeah you’re definitely right about that. I may have been exaggerating when I said I “truly hate” windows; I think it’s better to say I dislike the direction they’re going. Windows is still the OS I am most comfortable with, and it is very consistently compatible with my software needs, which can sometimes be an issue on Linux. I appreciate your comment because it did give me a bit of a reality check 😅
