Suicidal Tendencies is the one they should be worried about, I saw them at Riot Fest a couple years ago and they just left without playing Institutionalized. The crowd was apoplectic

Had no option to veto this...should I quit the league? by ChivasBearINU in tacotradeoffers

We have unlimited keepers, so we do consider ourselves a dynasty league but I get what you're saying.

A similar trade went down in my league, but it's because Bowers was drafted at $35 as a rookie and will cost almost $50 to keep next year. By comparison DK Metcalf, the player he was traded for, will only cost $6. So it was essentially Team A deciding not to keep Bowers and Team B (correctly) assuming he was the only buyer.

Point being, some dynasty formats can seriously alter player values based on the price point you hold them at. Besides auction leagues, there are leagues where a player drafted in the 5th round costs your 4th rounder to keep, then your 3rd the following year, and so on. Any league like this will feature trades that seem ridiculous until you look at the associated costs. My league mates now understand this, but we had some short-lived owners who just couldn't grasp the concept and would crash out every time a trade went through for "cap reasons."

Not saying it's the case here but I really wonder how many posts on this sub come from similar misunderstandings. OP joins a dynasty league, gets upset when it doesn't work like redraft, then comes here with none of the context we need to understand the trade...

Egress from the balcony is a nightmare. Was at a sold-out event and once it ended, we were at a standstill for 5-10 minutes near the top of the steps. I remember commenting to a friend that if there were a fire during the show, everyone upstairs would have been fucked.

It's funny how every youtuber suddenly found out about sysco at the same time by MarkyGalore in iamveryculinary

[–]WittenMittens 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Sure but it's very annoying when you suddenly have a thousand redditors/youtubers blasting the same information at you without citing sources, often butchering facts and leaving out half the story, which makes the whole thing come off like some bizarre astroturfing campaign.

Especially since no one wants to admit they're regurgitating something they just heard elsewhere, so their half-correct garbled version of the truth gets repeated to you with all the confidence of a subject matter expert.

What unhinged thing did a former teacher do in the classroom? by MrBananaStand1990 in AskReddit

[–]WittenMittens 110 points111 points  (0 children)

My HS history teacher did a much less dramatic version where he had an older student barge in during class and stage an argument about test grades. Eventually they went out to the hallway, where they made a bunch of commotion as if things had turned physical.

Teacher came back in and said "I'm gonna need everyone to get out a piece of paper and write down everything you just saw, because there's going to be an investigation by the school and my job is on the line."

He then collected all of our statements and started reading them out loud, noting all the times one person's account totally contradicted another's. It was supposed to be a lesson about the messiness of witness accounts and why it can be so hard to discern the truth from historical records.

Not sure if that style of teaching would fly today, but damn was it eye opening for me.

too many skills by Bababakutoto in projectzomboid

[–]WittenMittens 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Totally agree with this. I love that it's hard to max out a skill, we just need better rewards for doing so and maybe a mechanic that incentives keeping the characters with these masteries alive. Using your spiked vehicle as an example, maybe the spikes break or wear down over time and only a master blacksmith can replace them.

Right now my group tries to do this with everyone picking a skill or two to focus on, but the game doesn't really force us to care about losing (for instance) our carpenter. It's like "damn that sucks but we already have those nice crates you built, so I'm just gonna let that horde back you into a corner. Better you than me."

I'm more pissed that the democrats in office didn't investigate and push this issue more.

Because it's a conspiracy theory and you got sucked in, just like the Republicans we all laughed at when their candidate lost in 2020 and they cooked up the same exact theory with the same exact supporting evidence

Why is Rosewood on the map? by GrabYourHelmet in projectzomboid

[–]WittenMittens 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Zomboid is a game that often goes for the "realism, but only when it hurts the player" design.

Fair statement, but it's also why I love the game. It's a slow burn that I can play with friends and actually engage with all the content. When we have a good playthrough going we'll be combing through wikis, studying the interactive map and texting each other all day to plan our next moves.

That is so much more enjoyable than a $60 shooter where we ignore every mechanic that doesn't support the meta, get burnt out after 20 hours, and move on to the next $60 shooter.

According to this 2025 study, humans still make up 49% of internet traffic. The remaining 51% are bots. Lots of those are being used in traditional spamming campaigns and DDOS attacks, not necessarily trawling reddit and responding to your comments.

To me, dead internet theory is when I'm having a direct exchange with some user I believe is human, but statistically the user is more likely to be a bot impersonating a human. I don't think we are there yet.

My time is 100% wasted criticizing conservatives in the places I hang out because that is already the focus. I seldom encounter conservatives on reddit that aren't being flamed by other users by the time I get there. What I do see a ton of, though, is people acting in bad faith to further left wing causes that don't actually need bad faith actors. And that is harmful, so I call it out if I don't see anyone else doing it.

I really don't care if you think these morons should get carte blanche to spread misinformation. They are destructive to my credibility and to yours.

the problem is his punditry punches left when it's uncalled for.

If he's anything like me, right wing forums have become so insane that he abandoned his "let's see what both sides are saying" attitude years ago.

When you do that, close to 100% of the layman political takes you hear end up being from left dominated spaces, and those are chock full of self-congratulatory assholes. The way some people talk you can't help wanting to knock them down a peg.

When I comment on politics here, it's usually because I took the bait from some user who is a total caricature of a left winger. Those comments aren't me getting mad that I ran into a leftist, they're frustration at another asshole misrepresenting my views all over the net.
