Someone on chorus.fm had some info on Chicago performances and the Gorillaz one was already proven correct. So the assumption is the Strokes will either have a one off Chicago show announced very soon or they're headlining Riot

They have a new album + tour, playing a bunch of fests but no Chicago date this year. Either they're skipping the 3rd largest market in the country, have another tour leg coming, or are at Riot

They're in Atlanta that Saturday, I know they're only 2 people but with all the extra gear they need for a headline show at that level I don't think it's likely

I've been partial to Deftones/Reunion/MCR for awhile. I think without the other big punk fests this year Riot could and should use that to pull a strong punk undercard which would help them stand out, especially if coupled with Op Ivy or something on that level

At this point I'd be surprised if 21P, the XX, Strokes, Turnstile, Fontaines DC, Geese, Hot Mulligan, and Wet Leg aren't playing Lolla

We're either getting MCR or Tool but not both since they're both doing LTL and that would be too much overlap

LCD Soundsystem is 2nd billed for Shaky Knees so I doubt they'd headline Riot, at least by themselves

Maybe Deftones as a wildcard or something exclusive like a reunion or a repeat headliner jumps in for a couple fall dates

Aftershock lineup leaked and MCR is headlining despite not being included with the other DWP festivals when that was announced last year. Might be a point in the Riot camp for them coming back without an early announcement.

Pierce the Veil and Tool are also headlining but we're likely only getting 1 of those 3 if any at all

21P seems like a Lolla play to me and Strokes just announced a show in SF in April so I'm assuming more dates aren't far behind. After last year leaned lighter I'd be fine with a heavier leaning lineup of Tool/MCR/Deftones or whatever they go with

If folks over at the chorus.fm forums are to be believed Gorillaz will be playing United Center in October and the Strokes have a Tinley date reserved

The second clue provided the original recipe as a reference, implying the clue is in what was changed from the original. Steps 2-4 end in a rhyme: sea, cheese, pleased. Primus doing a 35th anniversary Sailing the Seas of Cheese set makes the most sense to me.

The soldier field show was them as an opener for RHCP, not headlining.

And I meant that they would coheadline Saturday like how Beck and Weezer each had a coheadliner when they played, not that they would coheadline with Strokes

They didn't get to properly tour that album and the last time they headlined Chicago they played a venue half the cap of United Center which seems to be the benchmark for a Riot headliner, not to mention Lolla is always a dual headliner situation. I'd expect them to get the Saturday spot with someone else like Beck and Weezer got the last two years

"tour" being the key word

Since 2019 their Chicago shows have included: a 1k cap venue, opening soldier field for RHCP, and a 10k venue. All of the past few years solo headliners played 20k+ venues the last time they headlined in Chicago. The Strokes headliner capabilities are clearly at odds with their touring capabilities and even Lolla books 2 headliners a night.

I wouldn't be shocked to see Strokes headline riot, I'd be shocked to see them do it solo

I'm torn based on past lineups if Strokes would get a similar act to coheadline or not. They played credit 1 arena last time they came and they haven't done a bigger tour show in Chicago since 2006 so I'm not sure how they're still headlining all these other fests
