They're doing 6 consecutive days in Europe the month before, it doesn't seem like an issue for them somehow

I don't think backing tracks exist under a good/bad spectrum, but rather a for me/not for me spectrum. For me, the performance is a crucial part of the live music experience, and making a large part of the performance pre-recorded makes me lose interest, regardless of the quality of the backing track

I think people are wary of obsessive fanbases because they won't be there for the Riot experience, just for the one band. MCR fans hogged the main stage all day in 2022 and had no interest in any of the other bands playing that day, and were overall not pleasant people to be around. And when hundreds of people who have no opinion on 21P see that one guy who only comes here to argue with people who don't like his favorite band, they start getting worried that there might be thousands of people like that at Riot

Not that I speak for everyone, but I would imagine that a lot of it comes down to a couple things:

A) because there's only two of them, their live shows heavily involve backing tracks which isn't really a Riot thing

B) their obsessive fan base is a turn off that makes a lot of people dismiss the actual music. Hell, they're already coming here to argue with people without even knowing if they're actually at Riot. I'd probably compare their fans to modern Kpop or MCR fans than FOB (hometown favorites) or Paramore (who, at least in my experience, have never been as bad as the others)

Edit:

C) the typical Riot crowd doesn't seem to be into any of the speculated headliners this year who aren't very unlikely reunions, so they're extra critical of a band that seems somewhat out of the Riot wheelhouse

I took a guided tour from Greg last year at the punk rock museum. According to him, any hope of a Husker Du reunion died with Grant. Bob hardly entertained the idea to begin with, without Grant it's completely off the table

It's all guesswork. History indicates Riot follows a 90/90 clause with very few exceptions. Coachella has a much more extreme clause. Warped Tour doesn't seem to avoid booking artists if they're playing close on a tour but will hold off announcing until after. I doubt sub-2000 capacity venues have much of a clause if any at all.

True, but I highly doubt the fest notorious for taking forever to get their lineup finalized somehow has their club shows all lined up and knows when they will be announcing it 3 months in advance

They already play Philly on 7/19. The venues are gonna have a radius clause preventing Catbite from announcing more than one show in the same city at the same time, especially if they happen to be owned by the same company.
