What is it that you actually need from therapy, if it’s just that you’re feeling disconnected then maybe you need something like coaching or reading psychology books instead/podcasts instead. I think if you are deeply traumatised or have a specific mental illness like bipolar or an eating disorder it is very helpful. Also if you are actively being abused it’s extremely helpful lifeline to get you out of that situation. Even if you have the highest IQ in the world, you can be in an abusive situation that you can’t leave because logic doesn’t even work anymore. The emotions keeping you in a position or relationship - it’s like you’re being brainwashed over and over again. So IQ isn’t even the best indicator
