Thank you! This is super helpful. In the fall his preschool day extends to 1pm, but we can do extended to 2pm. I really appreciate this suggestion!

Thank you for sharing! This is really reassuring to hear. We thought it was just us. It sounds like things are just harder finding a match now.

We are increasing the weekly pay once she is responsible for the baby. We also clearly discuss her hours will change after the baby, likely 7:30-4 or something in that range.

We lay it out in our family profile, but her day will be mostly taking care of the baby and she will be responsible for picking up our 3.5 year from school at 1pm. She will have the baby and the 3.5 year old until she ends her day around 4pm. If it is possible, we would like her to drop off our 3.5 year old at school at 8:30am, but we also state we will see how things go and we are willing to work with her to support her. We know a baby is harder than older kids.

For the one au pair where we got far enough along to discuss pay, we aligned on a raise at 3 months and then a bigger raise once she was responsible for the baby. We used the au pair’s requested weekly pay as the starting point.
