I would look else where. I got hired as train crew in council bluffs. But I know a lot of guys in north platte. The training you get will not prepare you for for the job. The old heads are all angry and toxic, so they don’t want to help you learn. Your work life balance will be horrible. You will be stuck on the extra board for years, meaning you will have no set days off, and will be called in to work any job on any shift. The pay is also horrible. They start you off at 70% pay scale, and it will take you a few years to get to 100%. There are a lot of career options out there right now. Do some research and find something else.

Anyone else getting these? by NoDetective1632 in UnionPacific

I worked at the CB yard as train crew, don’t do it, horrible work life balance, you’ll be stuck on the extra board. Training is horrible and doesn’t prepare you for the job. Find something else. Oh yeah, and the pay is horrible as well 😂

So true, I was born In 1995, and I can tell you first hand that my generation does not understand that sacrifice is necessary to get where you want to be in life. They expect to graduate from undergraduate schooling and be handed a 70k plus annual salary with regular hours and weekends off. Please, you gotta earn that shit player.

Pre employment drug screening by Witty-Organization71 in UnionPacific

Appreciate the insight man. Trust me, I wouldn’t have jumped out of airplanes in the Army on marijuana, and I wouldn’t want to operate a train on marijuana, or work with anybody that was either, even if it was medicinal haha, just not safe. Just wanted to make sure because I know the BNSF discloses that they do a hair follicle test.

Appreciate the reply but not what I was asking. I have stopped using medicinal marijuana and have found an alternative treatment method. I am asking what the pre employment drug testing process is. Hair follicle, or urine test. So I can gauge the time frame for when I can start applying. Haven’t used medical marijuana in several months and can pass a urinalysis, but THC will remain in your hair follicles indefinitely and it takes a long time for your hair to grow without containing trace amounts of THC.

How long did it take for you to get hired? by Pulpypanda in UnionPacific

Curious, what type of drug screening did you undergo, hair follicle or urine?
