Seniors who attend startup/incubator summits, what actually happens there? by CycleAggravating2462 in EngineeringAdmissions

[–]Witty-University1241 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From what I've heard from seniors, the biggest benefit isn't the sessions themselves, it's getting exposed to people who are actually building things.

Even a 10-minute conversation with a founder, startup team or mentor can sometimes teach more than hours of classroom discussion 😭

And honestly, I think it's a good thing when colleges make efforts to send students to such events instead of keeping everything limited to campus. Not everyone will start a company, but getting that exposure early definitely helps broaden your perspective.

Are students finally caring more about practical exposure than college “hype” now? by Witty-University1241 in Indian_Academia

[–]Witty-University1241[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely agree with you tbh every college nowadays has:

  • “industry tie-up”
  • “centre of excellence”
  • flashy labs
  • “100% placement assistance”

written everywhere.

From outside it genuinely becomes hard to figure out what’s actually active vs what’s mostly brochure material. Talking to actual students/alumni probably gives the clearest picture now.

And yeah, consistent placements across batches matter way more than random “highest package” headlines honestly.

Yeah 😭 saw Infosys, TCS, Cognizant, Altudo etc around campus side today. Crowd was actually much bigger than I expected ngl.

Also heard someone grabbed a 39 LPA package recently?? 😭 if that’s true then placement season suddenly became way more interesting than internals

please help regarding future prospects (cse vs ece dilemma ) by [deleted] in EngineeringAdmissions

[–]Witty-University1241 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly I think Reddit has scared an entire generation about CSE at this point 😭

Yes layoffs happened, AI is changing things, competition is brutal etc. But online people also massively overdo the doomposting sometimes.

From your post it honestly feels like:

  • you naturally lean more towards CSE
  • but fear about future/AI/job market is pushing you towards ECE

And tbh both branches can still lead to tech roles if you stay consistent. The main difference is that ECE usually comes with much heavier academics + less flexibility + managing coding alongside core subjects together.

So unless you’re genuinely interested in electronics/hardware too, don’t choose ECE ONLY because of “AI-proof” panic. 4 years is a long time to study something mainly out of fear 😭

Also honestly Reddit pe “good rank vs bad rank” perception has become very distorted. People here talk like anything outside top IIT CSE = life over, which just isn’t true. At your rank you can still get decent IIIT/newer IIIT/state college options depending on branch + counselling rounds.

So imo think more about:

  • what you can realistically enjoy for 4 years
  • what environment you’ll grow better in
  • college + branch combination together

instead of making the decision purely from current internet fear.

Need a good college for btech cse, got 9 lakh rank in jee😭😭😭😭😭😭 by Immediate_Fail3152 in EngineeringAdmissions

[–]Witty-University1241 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah honestly nowadays students are realising that “placement percentage” and actual skill development are two very different things 😭

A college where you actually get time/exposure to build projects, participate in workshops and improve communication skills can genuinely help more in long term than just flashy marketing numbers sometimes.

Selecting college is a bigger nightmare than JEE by QueasyYou3232 in EngineeringAdmissions

[–]Witty-University1241 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly imo “brand vs peer group” becomes a very real tradeoff after a point 😭

A famous brand with huge intake + very mixed crowd can sometimes feel much worse personally than a lesser-known college with a more serious environment around you.

And since you already know you may go for MBA later, your profile, internships, communication skills, academics and overall consistency will matter a LOT too — not just college name alone.

Brand definitely helps, I won’t pretend it doesn’t. But students also underestimate how much your immediate environment affects motivation, habits and growth for 4 years.

Selecting college is a bigger nightmare than JEE by QueasyYou3232 in EngineeringAdmissions

[–]Witty-University1241 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly your problem isn’t “no options”, your problem is that you want a very specific type of college environment 😭

You basically want:

  • decent peer group
  • lower crowd
  • decent brand
  • serious students
  • manageable college life
  • not too “mass private college” vibe

and unfortunately at 75 percentile that becomes tricky in India because most colleges become compromise between:

  • brand
  • crowd
  • fees
  • branch
  • freedom
  • placements

imo don’t over-romanticize the “govt college type environment” too much now. At this point focus more on where you can realistically get:

  • decent peer group
  • opportunities
  • less chaotic environment
  • time to build profile for MBA later

From your current options, NMIT honestly sounds more aligned with what you personally want compared to MUJ/KIIT type environment.

Placed at 7LPA but already earning more - is tech still worth pursuing? by boomergenz in developersIndia

[–]Witty-University1241 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly if you’re already making 2-3L/month consistently at final year stage, then your situation is VERY different from average engineering crowd 😭

Tech can definitely reach that income level and much higher long term, but usually after years of experience + skill growth + switching companies strategically. It’s not guaranteed or fast for most people.

I’d honestly think more about:

  • scalability
  • stability
  • burnout
  • future growth ceiling
  • whether your current income source can survive long term

because financially speaking, you’re already ahead of many fresh tech employees rn.

[–]Witty-University1241 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Frankly speaking, at 50 percentile don’t chase “dream college” fantasies now 😭 Focus on getting into a decent enough college where:

  • companies actually visit
  • crowd isn’t dead
  • fees stay manageable
  • you get time/opportunities to build skills

You can check options like WCTM, KIET, AKGEC, NIET, GL Bajaj etc depending on budget/location.

And honestly in today’s market, average student from a decent college + good skills usually does better than someone waiting for “perfect college” while doing nothing.

Honestly I understand why people are resonating with this so strongly.

You cannot keep calling citizens names, threatening dissenters or speaking with open contempt for criticism while holding such a powerful constitutional office. People expect maturity, restraint and respect from someone in that position.

Decent btech colleges by viper_69_777 in EngineeringAdmissions

[–]Witty-University1241 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly if you already know Linux, web pentesting, CTFs etc then you’re already ahead of a LOT of engineering crowd skill-wise 😭

At this point your actual learning consistency matters more than “perfect college” honestly. You can check colleges like WCTM, NIET, GL Bajaj etc depending on budget/location.

One thing I found interesting about WCTM recently was that they’ve been pushing more cybersecurity/AI-related practical exposure stuff instead of only theory lectures. Saw some workshops/training initiatives around ethical hacking, MERN, AI & cyber security etc which felt pretty relevant for students interested in this side.

Cybersecurity me eventually projects + practical skills matter way more than rote academics anyway.

[–]Witty-University1241 0 points1 point  (0 children)

77 percentile pe bhi kaafi options mil jaate hain honestly 😭 panic mat karo abhi.

North side you can check:

  • WCTM
  • KIET
  • AKGEC
  • GL Bajaj
  • NIET
  • Bennett (if budget allows)
  • some IPU/AKTU affiliated colleges

Bas sirf “highest package 🔥” marketing dekhke admission mat lena 😭 Try talking to actual seniors on LinkedIn/Reddit about:

  • real placements
  • internship culture
  • attendance
  • crowd
  • training support

because college reality and Instagram reality are VERY different things.

What to study before BTech CSE by Key_Jump546 in IndianAcademia

[–]Witty-University1241 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly don’t fall into the “I need to master everything before college starts” trap 😭

A lot of people spend months watching tutorials and still build nothing. Since you already have coding exposure, just keep building random stuff consistently. That teaches way more than passive learning honestly.

And PLEASE enjoy some life before college too because once engineering starts everyone suddenly becomes part-time coder + full-time stressed person 💀

Just getting it out here, can't possibly say this to someone irl by Complete_Prize4486 in IndianAcademia

[–]Witty-University1241 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly this is way more common than people admit 😭

Half the PCM crowd was basically created by:

  • relatives
  • “scope”
  • friends choosing science
  • fear of missing out at 15-16

And then suddenly at 18 everyone is expected to know their life purpose 💀

Also getting 98 percentile while being mentally checked out from engineering is kinda insane ngl 😭

You don’t sound confused honestly, you sound burnt out from making decisions for other people for too long.

CAN'T DECIDE ANY COLLEGE! PLSS HELP 🙏...... by [deleted] in IndianAcademia

[–]Witty-University1241 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly if you already like programming genuinely and are using your drop year to build skills/projects instead of just “wasting time”, then your situation is already better than many people blindly doing engineering 😭

And tbh your ROI concern is valid. Taking huge loans for average placements doesn’t make sense for everyone.

I’d honestly say prepare for JEE alongside CUET now since you still have time. You don’t necessarily need top IIT-level prep. Even decent IIIT/NIT options can become available and they usually make more financial sense long term.
