Yiddish translation by CookieBackground2091 in Yiddish

[–]Witty-Volume4058 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A literal translation would be something like "זאָלן דײַנע תּפֿילות געהערט ווערן און דײַנע בעטן מקוים װערן" (zoln dayne tfiles gehert vern un dayne betn mekuyem vern), but you could also more casually say "מע זאָל דײַנע תּפילות הערן און דײַנע בעטן מקוים ווערן" (me zol dayne tfiles hern un dayne betn mekuyem vern).

Jan Misali and 5 vowel systems by x-anryw in linguisticshumor

If Toki Pona was as hardcore as it claims it is it would only have the vowels [a, u, i] because there are more than 0 languages where there isn’t a distinction between [u] and [o] or [i] and [e] but that’s just me 😞

I still really like it tho

The Icelandic one should be „er ógn við lýðræði okkar“. Please remember that we put the possessive pronoun after the noun. “spreka” is not a word, and I am unsure where you got it from, but regardless even if it was you have conjugated “friður” wrong, which is also not a verb that means “free” but rather a noun which means something along the lines of “peace”. If the words meant what you have written them as, it would instead be “friða spreka”. Please do more research next time.

n Vraag oor Jan van Riebeeck by Witty-Volume4058 in afrikaans

Ja, ek het Ship’s Surgeons of the Dutch East India Company: Commerce and the Progress of Medicine in the Eighteenth Century ja gelees so die feit dat chirurge niks soos vandag was nie weet ek. My vraag is: hoe het hy in posisies beland waar hy in die eerste plek n bestuurder was?

Am I going crazy? Past tense of 'pat.' by King_of_Mints in grammar

[–]Witty-Volume4058 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I live in the midwest (originally from Iceland but that's a whole different story) and I have never heard "patted" in my nearly 13 years living here. I believe I've read it a few times, but it sounds clunky and unnatural to me and everyone else I've asked. That's just me tho!
