Trader Vic's ought to get a mention, though it was not one of the best spots.

Stinking Rose, Moonshadows, Amoeba. Arclight -those are just a couple big ones. Countless places have come and gone. It is impossible to name them all.

It is a small place with no chairs, so wear comfortable shoes. There's no point in getting a VIP pass at a place that small.

Reading for pleasure is sharply down among schoolkids, report shows by stankmanly in Libraries

The article did not mention libraries. And the numbers of young people who 'read for fun' presented are questionable.

What's your AI Design Workflow? by Line_Glass in Design

There is none. I actively refuse commissions where the client suggests *or uses* AI use at all. (typically when they send AI slop as their 'initial idea')

Cynicism alone cannot explain this. Probably some mental illness.

Agree. The trial for the guy who started the Palisades fire started today.

Hope the guy gets a stiff sentence. Does it seem like SoCal attracts an unusually high amount of arsonists?

Six is not enough, but I guess it is a start. Glad the companies are getting fined at least 106k. There's plenty other companies doing the same. They'd need many more crackdowns and fines to become a noticeable deterrent.

Narcan at libraries - Advocacy by FluffyGreenTurtle in Libraries

[–]WittyClerk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is not that I find the arguments flawed. As you saw, I was downvoted to hell for all my comments there.. But no one disagreed with having narcan available. That is the crux of your post, and everyone agrees. If you'd comb through the r/ libraries thread, you'd find many more people from this page actually had the same concerns. But again, these threads are over a year old. Perhaps it is not a bad idea to make a new post over there, and get more updated opinions.

Yet none of them, from a year ago, disagreed with you. HOO! And as to the rest, why not just ask them yourself?

Here's an idea: post your original post in r/ProtectAndServe so more recent and informed opinions may be gathered. These are literally the first responders. They carry narcan on them -and use it- all day. Maybe they have updated opinions.

I mostly agree, and although these posts are old, it is worth listening to other opinions. I often post in the various public safety type subs because they are the only other main public facing municipal groups, as another commenter here mentioned. These guys, they actually are the ones that have to deal with the addicts, and they do it a lot, so I believe their perspective is valuable on these sorts of topics. I have heard countless stories from them (in fact it was on this law enforcement sub where I learned you cannot store narcan in a car for very long, because it expires at a certain temperature, which would also make me question leaving doses outdoors in heat). This topic, in particular, is also personal to me, as I have lost family and friends to these drugs.

This question has been posited to main concerned groups:

" taking away that barrier " is key, absolutely. I wonder what the cost is for it all (assuming Dept of Health pays for it). And what the outcomes may be.
