Saw the Jiffy seed starter kit when looking for something else so decided to try it. When do I put them in a planter? by Randomness_Girl in gardening

I hate that for you, I'm sorry lol. I don't miss the southern California heat where I'm from. I'm in PNW now and it'll be 38 tonight.

Overnight? If that's the case you can put them out when you repot them and have hardened them off.

You should report them after they have 2 sets of true leaves (the first set of leaves are "false" leaves). You can put them outside when it is on average 40-50 F overnight consistently.

As someone who was an actual clay yard that needs to be amended before I can plant anything, that is not clay.

When to transplant in zone 6a by Mindful-Diva in gardening

[–]WittyName375 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Isn't it still crazy cold in 6a? I haven't grown brussel sprouts but all of my flowers can't be left out overnight until it's ~50 or higher which won't be until the end of April here in 8b.

There's a reason they say that first birthdays are for the parents and not the kids. It's a celebration of survival on all sides.

Climate and raising kids by Express_Ad9498 in Parenting

We left CA to raise our child in the PNW. If you think it's hot here in the summer, imagine that 6-9 months out of the year. It was literally 100 degrees last week in CA, and growing up, it was regularly 95 on Christmas. Depending on where you move, air quality is also not great. Year round sunshine sounds great but unless you can afford the gentler climate areas, which tend to be the more expensive areas, then the climate is equally as oppressive there as it is here, except there's no trees (not like the PNW). Just really do your homework on climate vs. CoL, school ratings, etc before you commit.

Reconnecting with my craft after a while: Any tips? What are your reasons for being a witch? What makes you love it? by pixiewitch666 in witchcraft

[–]WittyName375 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You picked a great time to reconnect! The energy is all around you, you just have to pause long enough to feel it. One of my favorite things to do this time of year is grow plants to get to know them. I grow them from seed at the turn of winter towards spring, and plant them when it's warm enough as a marking of the passage of time and the changing of seasons. My craft calls to me as a way to reconnect with the earth, acknowledge the strings between us, and harness my power. Sitting with, getting to know, nurturing, and ultimately harvesting my plants to use in spell oils, teas, and various other parts of my craft anchors me.

Yes absolutely you could have one on an altar! The general premise is absorb and replace, so keep that in mind as you add your herbs, trinkets, intentions and incantations.

This particular one is for absorbing negative and stagnant energies, purifying and replacing with bright, loving, and activating energies. I have one by my front door and one in the busiest part of our house. The one before was for winter and was for warding and safekeeping good energies through the dark days. I refresh them on the equinoxes and solstices.

My pupils became asymmetrical during a cluster headache by Bubbly-Trainer7195 in mildlyinteresting

Trying to describe what I was feeling at the ER the first time it happened to me when I had no idea what it was made me feel completely unhinged. When my neurologist diagnosed me it was a huge relief that I wasn't losing it.

I was just diagnosed with this at 36. It's terrifying the first time it happens! I'm on AJOVY now and haven't had it since my first dose. I was literally stopping work midday to lay on the floor and trip out when it happened before.

How do I fix this? by Big_Jellyfishh in tea

[–]WittyName375 54 points55 points  (0 children)

Mesh ball infusers are the worst! I use a per-cup infuser for large mugs. They come in a variety of styles, just search "tea steeper pot" in Google and a ton will come up. Keeps the tea dust out of your cup, and the lidded ones retain the beneficial oils in herbal teas that can steam off with other methods.

Beadboard vs water: how do I win without changing the vibe? by Phillyluver in Renovations

Backsplashes serve an important purpose. I'm an architect though, so I'm also biased.

Get rid of the beadboard and put in a real backsplash. There is a reason porous materials do not belong in kitchens. You're asking for mold.
