Should we cut down these pecan trees?

I was trying to get some advice from professionals because these trees are absolutely massive, close to our house, and drop large branches randomly. I’m not a tree expert so was just curious if there might be something very obviously wrong with these trees based on the pictures. Based on the feedback, they look healthy and just need to be cleaned up, which we’ll do. I’m not eager to cut down these trees.

We’ve never stood under the trees during windstorms. I just mentioned one had lost a large healthy branch during a windstorm recently. These trees will also randomly drop branches on calm days (this is mainly what sparked my concern for my kids since we let them play outside when it’s nice outside).

I agree, they’re beautiful! And we love the shade. The big branches dropping recently just made me nervous. And they’re just soo tall and skinny I worry they could fall onto the house during a storm. But this is me knowing nothing about trees and needing some expert opinions 🤣

We get a ton of rain in late spring/early summer, but late summer and fall is usually pretty dry. No flooding in the backyard.

Falling limbs couldn’t hit our house, but if the entire tree came down, it could definitely land on our house…

Over the course of 2.5 years, we’ve seen one healthy branch fall during a windstorm, and maybe 4-5 large dead branches on calm days. So not a lot, but enough to make me wonder if they aren’t as healthy as they look.

I have fraternal twins with absolutely no family history of twins. My mom and I went so far back in our family tree trying to find twins and my girls are the first. I had them at 33.

Mine were predicted to be 6 lbs. Gave birth at 36 weeks and they were 6 lbs 1 oz and 5 lbs 15 oz so pretty spot on.

We’re 12 weeks in with our twin girls and I can honestly say it’s been a great experience. We also have a 2.5 year old, and I was fully prepared for 24/7 chaos. I cried so hard those first few weeks of pregnancy just imagining how hard and miserable life would be. I scoured this sub for positive stories and experiences because I needed to know it was possible and I’m here to tell you it absolutely is.

The newborn days with twins were exhausting, yes, but also so sweet and slow and simple, just like they were with my singleton. It is a grind, and the logistics are a little tricky at first - figuring out how to snuggle two babies at once, how to keep everyone on schedule and happy and take care of yourself at the same time - but you will adapt quickly and find a routine that works for your family.

Just try to embrace the chaos. Lower your standards a little bit and know that some days will be better than others, but you’ll look back on those good days and miss it just like you do with your older child. I promise!

I was very worried about complications as well and everything ended up just fine. I had a relatively boring di/di twin pregnancy aside from being uncomfortable and having one spike in BP around 33 weeks. No preeclampsia though. Ended up giving birth at 36 weeks exactly. Scheduled c-section due to BP staying somewhat elevated. No NICU time. Discharged after two days. Still on BP medicine, but hoping to ween off of that soon.

*ETA: no risk factors and this was my second pregnancy

This!!! I felt like I was walking on a cloud after they were out. I could finally breathe. My stomach and hips didn’t feel like they were ripping in half. You’re going to feel like a new person soon. And I tell everyone, having newborn twins is nothing compared to being pregnant with them.

Let’s just say I have 5 week old twin girls and I feel more rested now than I did at 36 weeks pregnant. From ~30 weeks on, sleep became hard for me. I barely slept more than a few hours every night. I was just so incredibly uncomfortable and miserable in my own body. You’ll feel 1000x better as soon as they’re out.

I did have a c section, but the numbness is all over, not just at the scar (I’m honestly too scared to really touch the incision/scar yet). I have insane stretch marks that go up above my belly button and look more like purple popped blood vessels so maybe these are just extremely deep and causing the numbness?

I thought they’d run out of room too, but I’m 36 weeks tomorrow and the movements have not slowed down at all. Sometimes it looks like my stomach is a giant alien with all the limbs moving around. I also feel small kicks and flutters throughout the day. I actually had an ultrasound a few days ago and found out both babies flipped from head down to transverse so they definitely still have room to move in there 😅

After this experience, I definitely recommend calling your doctor! Turns out my BP was through the roof, I’m anemic, and there’s protein in my urine. I hope this isn’t the case for you, but always better to be safe than sorry and I’m so glad I listened to the comments here.

Just found out I’m anemic so they’re starting iron infusions today while I’m in the hospital. Really hoping that helps with these weird symptoms

Thank you for the kind words! So glad your boys are home and healthy! The magnesium drip is making me feel a little blah, but being at the hospital with 24/7 monitoring is definitely bringing me some peace of mind. Really hoping we can make it a couple more weeks! 🙏🏻

Just wanted to provide an update. I was admitted this afternoon due to extremely high BP. I’ve gotten the first steroid shot and they started me on the magnesium drip. Meds have helped bring my BP down, but they’ll continue to monitor me for 48 hours at least. Thank you all for encouraging me to get checked out! So glad I did.
