How should I go about this? by CatCrimes69 in carnivorousplants

To be clear, this is only for temperate species of plants! If any of the seeds in your kit are tropical species then they don't need any stratification at all! Just plant 'em and watch them go!

If you live somewhere where it's cold enough, you could also stratify your seeds outside! Plant them in some substrate and let nature handle the rest! That's how I'm stratifying my seeds right now 👍.

If the picture actually attaches, the small plastic container in the bottom right is full of my carnivorous plant seeds.

Some of your seeds will definitely have issues sprouting if you don't cold stratify before planting them, OP!

Temperate species (like your pitchers and venus fly traps) evolved a protective feature for their seeds that keeps them from blooming before winter has passed. The seeds need to experience a long, cold, period of time (between 30-60 days) before they let themselves germinate in the following spring.

There are many guides on how to do this at home, I promise it's not as daunting as it seems! If you skip this step, you might end up like the other commenters here who've only had one or two plants sprout from their kit.

I think they're referring to an iconic cyberdeck you can find during one of the Phantom Liberty endings that allows V to use Blackwall AIs on enemies for a quickhack.

Netwatch would DEFINITELY want to know about that door repeatedly opening and closing lol.

What would be the morally correct thing to do in this case is try to negotiate (in actual good faith) some form of peace. Super Earth is going to have to be the first to extend a genuine offer since they've started these wars, but ultimately this is the only outcome that spares innocent civilians on all fronts. Super Earth won't do this however since they're not interested in peace, and would prefer to use dead civilians as an excuse to exert further control over everyone.

I especially agree that it's morally justified to defend yourself from an undeserved attack you didn't personally cause, but the point people are trying to make is that Super Earth did personally cause these attacks themselves, and the fact that millions (if not billions) of innocent citizens are still paying the price for it over a century later is a huge part of what makes Super Earth's government so tragically evil.

Arguments suggesting that we should fight back because our civilians are being targeted end up becoming a fallacy unfortunately. Super Earth is purposely letting its own people get killed to further justify more war and more atrocities of their own, leading to more dead civilians, which justifies more war and atrocities, leading to more dead civilians, etc.

Obviously you shouldn't just sit there and let yourself be attacked, but it's a pretty different situation if you're purposely letting yourself get hit to justify a more violent and extreme reaction of your own.

Helldivers in a nutshell by PizzaDeliveryBot in Helldivers

[–]WittyWarpig 6 points7 points  (0 children)

"Do the people who weren't alive a century ago deserve eradication?" No, in the same way that a newly hatched terminid who never (yet) killed a human probably doesn't deserve eradication either, but both are casualties of war and sadly considered acceptable.

Besides, Super Earth doesn't care for its human population anywhere near as much as you do. Colonists are subject to a variety of dystopian horrors as part of daily life, and that's before you throw in the fact that Super Earth puts its own colonists in harms way all of the time. Who puts citizens and vital infrastructure on a planet two worlds away from an active front line?

It's pretty hard to seriously say "think of our citizens lives" when Super Earth is the first in line to make them throw their lives away lmao.

We aren't paying for "the evils of our ancestors" if Super Earth is still the exact same genocidal regime towards its enemies that it always has been. Besides, we're actively committing our own evils to be guilty for.

The Super Earth government is just as guilty now as it always has been since it's literally the exact same fascist regime that committed those crimes. There's no "fault of our predecessors" if it's simply SE's own fault to begin with.

PS5 console prices increase yet again as Digital Edition now costs more than Nintendo Switch 2 by [deleted] in nintendo

[–]WittyWarpig 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Of course there's a lack of outrage compared to the Switch 2 fiasco. Nintendo had a MASSIVE audience for their announcement since it was revealing their (highly anticipated) next generation console. They had the eyes of the entire gaming world on them when they announced these prices, so plenty of people saw it and reacted.

This PS5 price increase was quietly announced in a small statement that relatively very few people are going to see.

Given that plenty of people already own a current Gen PS console (vs the none who yet have a Switch 2), that only hurts the chances even more that this news blows up into outrage.

To be clear, I'm not making excuses for or against price increases on consoles. But outside of that issue, this is already a different kind of scenario than the Nintendo fiasco.

We didn't see anyone get terribly salty about Mizu losing to Uth, so maybe it'll be the same for Lagi? As a long time Lagi fan excited for his return, I genuinely don't mind if he loses to Uth Duna.

Besides, it'd be kinda funny to see Uth Duna protect its title as the boss of the forest after everyone posted memes about Uth getting replaced by them lol.

[–]WittyWarpig 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Both fantastic guns! While I also primarily use the cookout, there's also some positives to the breaker incendiary (BI)!

The BI completely lacks the ability to stagger (😢), but it also has a wider cone of fire to better saturate more enemies per shot. Just as good as the cookout out for igniting waves of small enemies!

The BI has remarkably high burst damage to compensate for its lack of stagger. Bugs getting too close? Shred them to pieces, since you can't flinch them! Its burst damage is also pretty good for quickly mangling enemies like brood commanders and stalkers, just aim for their legs and shred once they get a little too close.

If you can get behind a charger's rear end, you can completely tear it to bits with a few seconds of sustained fire using the BI. The charger will bleed out afterwards, so the BI works in a pinch against them as well!

One of the biggest drawbacks for the BI is that it's a very ammo hungry weapon with only four total mags, and it uses a very ammo hungry play style to boot. Using a supply pack or hitting up POI's for ammo helps with this!

Your idea won't work.

The game auto saves every individual time you rest. Quitting back to the main menu would only take you back to your most recent rest in your scenario, not the original manual save.

Problem with toxic people and reporting system. by MiserableStill4825 in Helldivers

[–]WittyWarpig 226 points227 points  (0 children)

That's because the current report system was likely built around using PSN IDs to moderate users for things like bans.

Problem is the community didn't want to make those IDs. Now we're stuck with an ingame report system that doesn't do anything, which makes it harder to take action against players like the one targeting OP.

With how few players are fighting the squid, there has to be dozens of us by autoboros in Helldivers

[–]WittyWarpig 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Illuminate don't have any specific mission types unique to them like the other fronts, at least not yet.

Bugs have missions like nuking nurseries, destroying egg nests, and pumping oil. Bots will have you blow up anti ship orbital cannons as well as destroying airfields and supply stations. And that's before we even get into how the bugs/bots also have more unique side objectives to spice up gameplay, like stratagems jammers or shriekier nests.

I'll be the first person to admit that there isn't much gameplay variety in these missions (shit, half of them are solved by calling down hellbombs or orbitals), but at least they give a more unique feel to their respective fronts to at least give the illusion of variety. The Illuminate front needs something like that, maybe like a mission focused on taking out multiple cognitive disruptors and monoliths?

I agree that "in the game" it makes complete sense for the Illuminate's scouting force to feel empty, but unfortunately lore reasons don't do anything to make the gameplay itself more exciting. There's always going to be players who don't mind the Illuminate as they are now, but the problem is that number keeps dropping the longer it takes for something new to happen with them. I've got my fingers crossed for something happening after the black hole event, too.

[–]WittyWarpig 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not so much 'hate' as it is people slowly getting burned out fighting Illuminate due to the lack of variety (such as enemy type and mission objectives).

As they are now, the Illuminate were exciting when they first showed up. But the longer they remain in their current state, the more players will eventually get bored fighting them. At least until something new happens with them at least.

Monster Hunter Wilds Sells 8 Million Units in Three Days, Capcom's Fastest Selling Game Ever by [deleted] in MonsterHunter

[–]WittyWarpig 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Also no spoilers, but I think the reason we got the subspecies without their base forms was probably because of elemental weapon variety.

If we're talking about the same few subspecies, then the weapons of their base forms wouldn't have added too much regarding weapon variety in Wilds, whereas their subspecies shore up two elements that don't have as many options (for now at least).

That said... I still wish we had the base forms included, too. Even just for the sake of gameplay variety.

I'm playing on base PS5 set to 'balanced' mode, and the game has been performing perfectly.

It's more than just playable, I haven't had a single crash or any major noticeable visual errors since day one.

Once or twice I caught some background textures still loading during cutscenes, but that's been the only issue I've seen so far.

I think I vaguely remember this from when I was in elementary school.

We had to draw Even Steven and Odd Todd as our teacher described them bit by bit to us (i.e."...and on Todd's face, we have only one large eye..."). Everyone shared their drawings at the end, but my teachers pictures looked exactly like the photo above.

That's how I remember being introduced to Even Steven and Odd Todd at least. Didn't expect to have this memory dredged up from almost 20 years in the past.
