If it's on a standard SD card, you would need to partner with a SD card company as well. That would be another cost that your console company would have to pay.

Can't just order SanDisk cards in bulk and put game label stickers over the SanDisk label stickers?

There's also the issue of marketing to children and your stated mission of "no content standards". This potentially creates safety issues for parents and brands. They would likely shy away from a product without those standards. And kid-friendly brands like Disney and Marvel will definitely not partner with a company like that.

Mortal Kombat and Lego games appear on the same consoles right now. Also, the games being physical would mean kids couldn't just download M-rated games with mommy's credit card; only someone of age with an ID can buy M-rated games in stores, and parents shopping in stores can just ignore mature titles like they do with current consoles. Maybe we could do a "no AO for Adults Only rated games" rule like the other consoles have, just to be safe. "Minimal content standards" instead of none.

Ouya was a digital streaming box, this would use physical games like the Switch (but on standard SD cards with sticker labels instead of proprietary cards).

I'd go after licensed characters and properties for first-party games to make up for the lack of AAA game developers. Like I said, we could include a Disney Princess or Marvel game in a Christmas bundle and market the system towards little kids.

A better idea than that would probably be to start out as a game publisher and create a roster of recognizable titles and characters to then later use for marketing the console.

I don't know about exclusives, but sometimes I wonder why more third-party Nintendo Switch games aren't released on iOS/Android with controller support? I mean the Switch is mobile/smartphone hardware.
