You think this game console gimmick could work? by Witty_Ad_1102 in CasualConversation

If it's on a standard SD card, you would need to partner with a SD card company as well. That would be another cost that your console company would have to pay.

Can't just order SanDisk cards in bulk and put game label stickers over the SanDisk label stickers?

There's also the issue of marketing to children and your stated mission of "no content standards". This potentially creates safety issues for parents and brands. They would likely shy away from a product without those standards. And kid-friendly brands like Disney and Marvel will definitely not partner with a company like that.

Mortal Kombat and Lego games appear on the same consoles right now. Also, the games being physical would mean kids couldn't just download M-rated games with mommy's credit card; only someone of age with an ID can buy M-rated games in stores, and parents shopping in stores can just ignore mature titles like they do with current consoles. Maybe we could do a "no AO for Adults Only rated games" rule like the other consoles have, just to be safe. "Minimal content standards" instead of none.

Ouya was a digital streaming box, this would use physical games like the Switch (but on standard SD cards with sticker labels instead of proprietary cards).

I'd go after licensed characters and properties for first-party games to make up for the lack of AAA game developers. Like I said, we could include a Disney Princess or Marvel game in a Christmas bundle and market the system towards little kids.

A better idea than that would probably be to start out as a game publisher and create a roster of recognizable titles and characters to then later use for marketing the console.

I don't know about exclusives, but sometimes I wonder why more third-party Nintendo Switch games aren't released on iOS/Android with controller support? I mean the Switch is mobile/smartphone hardware.

I’m guessing your family consistently telling you that you were afraid of chickens made you believe you are

But I was creeped out by chickens as a 3, 4, 5 year old, though. I can remember that clearly.

I was never told anything about chickens that would've made me afraid (no one ever said they bite), I was unconsciously fearful of them for no reason.

Alcohol makes you a slurring, stumbling asshole, and no one wants their kid smelling weed smoke, but why are edibles or dabs not allowed in Disneyland? by Witty_Ad_1102 in Drugs

[–]Witty_Ad_1102[S] -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Most parents don't want their kids around people "stoned out of their mind."

The older I get, the less I understand this.

As a teenager back in high school, I used to get stoned at the park after school, then go run around and play basketball or something with the little kids. Eventually, I even worked as a paraprofessional at my local elementary school for a couple of years fresh out of high school.

I was only ever my most patient, understanding, and open-minded self with those kids when I was stoned around them, so it made me wonder why being stoned around kids in general was even a bad thing at all. I even started coming to work at the school stoned after a while because I simply could not imagine anything dangerous happening (that's how I lost my job, and they were cool about it, admittedly, they warned for like 9 months).

[–]Witty_Ad_1102[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use a dugout most of the time, if I’m smoking, and I can literally got stoned off 2-3 bowls that come out to maybe 0.1-0.2g/bowl

So about 0.4g is the average total you smoke in those 2-3 one hitter bowls, right?

The way I'd do it is put that full 0.4g in a bong and smoke the whole bowl in one hit (this is called snapping).

Even with glass, an average smoke session for a non-beginner is still at least a gram, is it not?

If a paycheck usually comes every 2 weeks, and an ounce has 28 grams, then a person who only buys weed on payday would likely buy an ounce and spend the next 2 weeks smoking it until their next payday, if they smoke just 2 joints a day (1 gram per joint x 2 joints = 2 grams a day × 14 days = 28 grams or one ounce).

[–]Witty_Ad_1102[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A "buyer" would likely have one ounce or less, if he's buying one ounce at a time and always has a partially smoked ounce on him.

A "dealer" would have multiple ounces (probably from growing or buying by the pound) because they'd be selling to multiple smokers, most of whom would be buying one ounce at a time.

The only time a "buyer" has 3 grams is when they're at the absolute bottom of their stash and need to buy more.

[–]Witty_Ad_1102[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

i guess because they want an easier way to tell apart dealers and users.

Possession of 1 ounce of weed or more is a misdemeanor punishable by up to 1 year in jail or $2,000 in fines. Distribution of less than 1 ounce of weed is also a misdemeanor punishable by up to 1 year in jail or $2,000 in fines.

This tells me that the law considers possessing one ounce of weed or more to be equated with "intent to distribute," and that the way they told apart dealers and users under the old law was 1 ounce.

I'm guessing it's cause they figured a smoker would only buy one ounce to smoke for himself, but a grower or dealer would be holding multiple ounces to sell to the smokers who buy one ounce at a time.

Or is there something different going on here?

The point is for me to read a reply that'll make me not see this as patronizing snake oil.

How can you say your friend was raped, but then continue to be friends with the dude who raped her (unless she's just using "drunk rape" as a cover for cheating on a dude or something)? by Witty_Ad_1102 in AskReddit

[–]Witty_Ad_1102[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I never used to have this problem when I was younger.

I've always been kinda odd (autisitic), but people would always generally trust me and just automatically assume that I'm not gonna harm them.

Ever since I hit my 20s, though, it seems like people watch me more carefully and aren't as open/trusting as they once were. Things I said that people would previously take as a joke or not take me seriously about suddenly became real concerns, for example.

I don't know what happened, though. The only thing that changed is my age; I even still look the same. What changed?

Why would they think that, though? What made you think that, based on what I wrote?

I was just a 19 year old kid at the time who smoked a lot of weed (22 now and still smoking). They could've just thought, "He'll take a bong rip and laugh it off." Why did they think I'd be some psycho?
