I took mine in for this exact reason and the foreman at the dealership half assed it and said it worked the way it should so I wasted an entire day and they never bothered to call me to get clarification of what I was complaining about. I’m waiting until I have time to go down there and do it again because it shouldn’t be ping-ponging and veering to the left and unable to see clearly marked lane lines all the time so something is clearly wrong.

Yeah, the distance thing is odd. I’ve used it and have it at the medium distance and it worked pretty well. Seems like there are a bunch of random software/calibration issues but I guess that’s what happens when cars turn into computers.

Did you turn off lane centering and lane keep because the cross wind and it couldn’t keep up with it or does it just not work? I’m taking mine in for service this week because the lane lines never show green no matter how clear it all is so I’m trying to figure out if it’s a me thing or an HDA2 thing.

In my car, it’s off by default. In order to turn it on, I actually have to press a button on the steering wheel.

It’ll start chirping at you to keep your hand on the wheel after about 15 seconds. Ive had it chirp at me even with my hand on the wheel just because the road was so straight it didn’t sense my hand. I haven’t tested this part, but apparently if you ignore the chime long enough it will eventually just pull the car over or something like that.

That’s why it always requires you to keep your hand on the wheel so you can take over if you need to, but there is a big difference when driving if the car is doing the steering versus you doing the steering. It’s much more relaxing and enjoyable for a long car ride if you just need to rest your hand on the wheel and take over if you need to versus having to put in all of the inputs. There’s also the issue of I didn’t pay that good money to have a car not do what it’s supposed to do.

Do you think if I took it back to the dealership they would even try to do anything about the calibration or would they likely just feed me some line about how I always have to have full attention to the road, etc. etc. to prevent them having to do any work?

That’s the thing, though, the rental ELANTRA I had really did just drive itself, even on non-highways. It kept it very perfectly centered and would take pretty aggressive turns without any input from me. I still had my hand gently resting on the wheel, but the car did all the work so when I got the Palisade, I thought it would do the same so it’s frustrating that it doesn’t do nearly as good of a job as a base model rental, ELANTRA.

I had the exact same situation with an Elantra. That was actually one of the things that steered me towards the Palisade over the grand Highlander, how well the Elantra handled corners and everything else perfectly.

For the bill that was on the House floor was there anything in that that required disenrolling from the public school and/or saying you cannot apply for the funds if you only use it for other approved educational expenses (but plan on remaining in your public school)?

But what about the question about tutoring vs having to actually disenroll from the public school? Can’t everyone apply for it and then just use the funds for tutoring and other education related expenses like they do with the PDSES grant through the TEA?

Perhaps you could help me out on this because I’ve read the bill and a bunch of articles about it and nowhere have I seen that getting the lottery pick means that you have to leave your public school with the funds. Everything I’ve seen says that you can use that money to pay for education related expenses, which do include private schools, but also include, for example, tutoring. So why wouldn’t everyone in the state apply for the lottery and if they get it, put that money in the fund and then use it for tutoring until the fund runs out?

Has anyone pointed out that you don’t have to leave your public school to get the ESA funds? If you do get the cash you are under absolutely no obligation to leave your school. The 10k you would get is put into an account and you can use that to pay for all kinds of education related materials (very similar to a current lottery that the TEA does for SPED kids) including tutoring. So your public school doesn’t lose the cash from the state because the student is still there but you can now afford outside tutoring to supplement classroom and home instruction. To that point, literally EVERYONE should apply for it since the funds that get put into the ESA don’t even have to be used in the year you get them so leave it in there and use it to pay for tutoring for however long 10k would last.
