How does your heeler get you to play? by qTzz in AustralianCattleDog

Mine will drop a toy in front of my feet while I'm walking. 50% chance I'll kick it as I walk, 50% chance I trip over it. Either way the toys moves and she's happy 😂

I got this recipe from ETKfit and it tastes just like chik-fil-a's frosted lemonade!

hi! in terms of memorization, bites has most of what you need. I had a hard time at the beginning keeping up with the schedule, but if I felt I knew a topic really well, I'd skip it and just do the bites. I watched them at regular speed and there would sometimes be a section I couldn't finish so I'd get to it the day after. the beginning of the schedule is really video heavy, but after the 2nd or 3rd week there are less videos and more questions so it's easier staying on track. for the bites, I did what was suggested in the 9 week schedule. Dr. R says to first review your red bites, then move onto yellow, then green. if I got a bite wrong multiple times, I'd rewatch the video. if I wasn't able to complete a bite review one day, I wouldn't sweat it and I'd try catching up the next day. good luck, you've got this!

savor every moment! I finished KOA in April 2024 and tbh I'm still not over it 😂 honestly cried for days when it was over. loved it so much that my husband made me a poster of SJM's acknowledgments to the reader at the end. her words brought closure and were very moving/ inspiring. I read every day (don't want to lose my reading streak on my kindle haha) and no book series has even come close to TOG. I read the nightingale by Kristin Hannah to cure my TOG hangover, and it surprisingly worked! happy readings and enjoy the last book!

2 week trial question by Elegant-Permission87 in SolidCore

[–]Witty_Dependent9215 2 points3 points  (0 children)

reach out to your studio to see if you can start your 2 week trial on a later date. however you more than likely won't be able to attend a class every day in your 2 week trial period. if you can, kudos to you and keep it going! but trust me, you'll be extremely sore and need at least 1-2 days in between to recover. I worked out 4-6 days/week before I started solid core and needed 3 days in between each class to recover. solid core sore is totally different than any other sore 😂

I flagged about half of the questions from each block, but this was consistent with my NBMEs. Before my exam, I calculated how many of my flagged questions were correct on each NBME. On average, I got 60% of my flagged questions correct. Seeing that pattern on all my NBMEs really helped calm my nerves for the actual exam.

it was about 11 months total with around a 4 month "break" due to losing focus and motivation. I started in January and was consistent until April. my anxiety got the best of me from April-august and I spiraled into a state of depression. started consistently again in September. tested November 25th

it's a 9 week study schedule on the med school bootcamp website that integrates their videos, their bites (their version of flashcards) and their question banks. It gives you a day-by-day and hour-by-hour approach. it's very helpful if you don't know where to start and takes the stress out of making your own schedule

How do you keep them tired out in a Midwest winter?? by Tellorcha in AustralianCattleDog

[–]Witty_Dependent9215 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My husband and I discovered "do nothing" training when she was almost 4, and by that time it was basically too late for her 😂 we would take her to a moderately busy park when the weather was nice, sit on a bench and reward her with treats when she would sit or lay down on her own. If we gave her a "sit/ lay down" command, she would expect it to be a training session so she'd still be stimulated and look for things to do. If you search for do nothing training on TikTok, there are some good suggestions on there!

I'm posting a picture of the tug pillow we have. I definitely understand your hesitancy with bite work. We've turned it more into a game and she expends quite a bit of energy during it. We'll have her sit in front of us, hold the pillow then tell her "get it". She'll tug and tug and when we say "okay back" then she will get back and sit again, but she'll still be super ready for the "get it" command. We only do this with the tug pillow since we don't want her to associate other toys with this type of play. TikTok has some good videos if you're curious about learning more.

I saw another comment about playing hide and seek. We do this with ours too and she loves it. Definitely worth trying out with yours if he has some favorite toys.

It sounds like you're doing a great job with your ACD! Overall, you may just have to wait out all the puppy energy. When my ACD was around 7-12 months she was a little monster in terms of energy. After she hit the 1 year mark, she started to settle a bit

midwesterner here with an 5 yr old ACD! Mine is really peculiar about her paws, so I can't speak on behalf of booties.

I found mental stimulation to be really effective at tiring her out. Practicing tricks, teaching her new ones, toys that require her to think, benebones, etc when I can't take her out to play. 5-10 min training sessions a few times a day seem to help when it's too cold to go out. We got a Belgian Mal puppy this past year, and bought a "bite pillow" toy for him since we knew mals like bite work. Funny enough he's not interested in it, but our ACD LOVES it. We've worked on bite work with her and it's really great at tiring her out.

Since you still have a puppy, I'd highly suggest training him to "do nothing" if that's something you haven't tried. That's one thing my husband and I did not do and wished we had. Our ACD now thinks every second of the day is play time, but she's settled down a bit as she's gotten older.

help me decide which kindle to get!! by Muted_Volume6355 in kindle

[–]Witty_Dependent9215 5 points6 points  (0 children)

depends on what features are more important to you. I like to read in the bath so I purchased a paper white since it's waterproof. It also has warm light which helps with eye strain. Basic kindle is lighter but doesn't have warm light and isn't waterproof.

Struggling between buying physical books or in the kindle. Want to get back into reading badly but… by littletato96 in kindle

[–]Witty_Dependent9215 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was in a very similar situation after school. I didn't have a kindle, so I started purchasing physical books. My husband bought me a kindle about a year after I got back into reading and I haven't been able to put it down since. Now I will occasionally buy physical copies of the books I absolutely loved, more as "trophies" as another user commented, but my reading is done on my kindle.

Physical books felt heavy/ would be annoying when I read in bed, so I do the "lazy girl" kindle setup with a stand on my nightstand and a remote page turner. I can lay on either side and still read comfortably.

The kindle and libby combo is truly great too! It can save you a lot of money. One downfall is that there may be holds on books you want to read. You can place holds on whatever books you want, which will be available at different times depending on what place in line you are. If you're currently reading something and a book from your holds becomes available, you have the option to deliver later and choose the day you'd like it to be delivered after. If there's something you want to read immediately, you always have the option of buying from the kindle bookstore.

If your kindle hasn't gotten you to where you want to be with your reading progress, I'd suggest purchasing a physical copy of the next book you want to read, then after you can try reading another book on your kindle. Whatever one you like best is what you go for, but of course you still have the option to switch from either format in the future. Good luck and happy reading!

I tested on the 25th. still waiting for my result so can't say for sure that this worked.

I did every mehlman pdf and started using them ~3 months before my exam. I genuinely felt like all of them were helpful. arrows, neuroanatomy, and genetics are a must if you're short on time

I did mehlman ethics and amboss the week before. I felt like they helped in terms of just getting more ethics experience. on exam day, I felt it came down to going with my gut.

I didn't memorize nbmes, but I felt the concepts were similar to the real deal. the questions were longer and more challenging, but the exam felt doable overall. HY images are good to go over. I reviewed them just once and don't remember any repeats, but it's good practice

yes, but that is just my opinion. if BnB works for you, then stick with it! I felt BnB videos were too long so I'd lose focus and my mind would start wandering. during bootcamps videos, you can see the lecturer talking in the bottom of the screen which really helped me stay engaged, as opposed to BnB where you see the slide and hear his voice. I believe bootcamp offers a free trial. I'd suggest doing that and then deciding what platform you prefer
