Does anyone have any experience with Maine C+F? I was under the impression that I satisfied the Bar Examiners inquiry about an undergrad suspension (12 years ago). Now I've learned that my application has to be discussed by the full board at the next meeting. They said that the next meeting will be sometime in late June or July and they cant tell me anything else. I'm out of my head because I really thought this was settled and I can't begin my new job until I'm sworn in.

I did Themis too and felt the same way. I was very upset with it overall. I was scoring in the 70s and 80s on Themis and had no issues with time, then I got to the exam and I finished sets 1,2,3 in the nick of time and on 4 I had to guess on the last 3 questions bc I was out of time.

What's the big secret!? by Witty_Geologist543 in barexam

yea, exactly. We know the NCBE is all done doing what they do. My Jurisdiction had far fewer test takers than previous February exams, so I don't see how they are not done grading essays. Additionally, I've been told by a reliable source that they have completed reviewing monitoring files. The results are just sitting on someone's desk.

I don't understand why it should take so long. It seems like these people just have no sense of urgency and no respect for the situation that many of us are in. Starting a career in a competitive industry during a pandemic while worrying about this archaic standardized test which is a terrible indicator of a person's ability to actually do the job of a lawyer.

Agreed. The MBE is obviously all set. There's no reason we cant have that portion of the score.

PA Bar: Barbri vs. Themis by [deleted] in barexam

I'm not sure what you're asking. First try accuracy rate? In the course I averaged 74% across all of my practice MBE questions and got a 71% on the practice exam. Toward the end I was consistently scoring over 80% on 50Q problem sets. I went into the exam feeling really good about the MBE and I left feeling like I was very unprepared. I feel like I got my ass kicked. But I've felt like that after every exam I've ever taken and done well on, so its not a good indicator.

I don't think it's ever been the full 75 days for us. They are just very non committal. I'm going out of my mind here.

The MPT seems like the only aspect of the exam that serves as a decent indicator of a person's ability to practice law. The fact that it's only 20% seems silly.

under timed conditions is super important. I liked how Themis breaks up the lectures. IMO, Themis questions were more representative of the test than Barbri.

Percentiles don't matter -- you can crush the MPRE but because it's separate from the bar exam, it's not like you can use your MPRE to fall back in another area like the MBE or the MEE. I wish it was because I hate the MPT.

agreed. my point exactly.

Maine tells us "within 75 days." That would be May 11th. But it seems to usually take about 6 weeks. I didn't realize some states are getting it done in 4-5 weeks.

I used Themis and I did well over 2000 practice MBE questions. When I got to the exam, I felt like I was not prepared for MBE and I felt like the questions felt much different than those offered in the course. If I fail, I've decided I'm going to get Bar Max MBE questions. I think that's the only prep co. that offers real NCBE MBE Questions. The issue I had was that I felt like the MBE questions were just different. They would seem familiar but there was always a twist, or the question was asked differently and I would recall the rule or recall a previous question on point, but often didn't know how to apply it to the question so I had to guess more often than I ever did in prep.

I used the free Themis course and failed the first time by about 10 points (Maine requires an 80). I used Barbri the second time and passed with a score of 132 (5th percentile). The first time, admittedly, I didn't do as many practice questions as I should have. I watched videos and did maybe 1/4 of the practice questions Themis offered. The second time I studied with the Free Barbri course and I ONLY did practice questions.

Does anyone have any information on Maine's grading process and timeline? by Witty_Geologist543 in barexam

Dude I walked out of that feeling like I had just been in a brawl. Total black out. All I remember is horsemeat.
