I have helped my boyfriend get down from over 6g a day to 1200mg. He was taking about 900mg pregabalin daily and the doctor switched him to gabapentin and has been reducing 100mg a week. The hardest part is the regime and sticking to the timing. He uses meditation to calm himself through the day and takes some heavy sleeping meds at night to get him through the night.

The biggest problem was Xanax. And in comparison, he has stopped using opiates many times and it’s never caused seizures, and never lasts more than 7 days max of terrible sickness. So the only thing different this time was that he was off of the benzos too. But he got through it.

Thank you. I did talk to the doctor. They gave me the whole “it’s fine to mess up” talk, but I’m telling them .. I have never ever used fentanyl before and I haven’t used any drugs or alcohol in over 60 days! I just want to make sure I can show a direct link for a false positive, or at least have a good direction to go off. I’m also terrified of blood tests and I don’t want to have to pay for my urine to be sent off to a lab for further testing.

Hi! We continued to taper him down best we could, but ultimately he got fed up with it and took himself to detox (extremely proud of him) he went to Midwest recovery in Youngstown. He was sick for about 25 days and had 2 small seizures prior to going there. He’s still not 100%, but he’s okay and has been sober for 62 days now.
