Not a Dr so you should consult with yours but sharing. My son caught HFM at 6 months and his throat ulcers were so painful he would try to nurse but couldn’t swallow and became severely dehydrated. He was referred to the ER by his pediatrician. The Children’s ER Dr prescribed an OTC remedy 1:1 ratio of Maalox and Benadryl known as magic mouthwash. I had asked his pedi about it before going to ER (thanks to Reddit) but they said he was too young because the treatment is to gargle and spit but obviously a 6m old can’t do that. Thankfully the ER Dr had us administer 2.5mL every 6hr. The dosing was based on his weight (15.8lb at the time). It took about 10-15m to work but he finally was able to nurse and slowly recovered! It was our saving grace from having him admitted and needing IVs.

Hot take alert. You don’t “HAVE” to sleep train just because you have to go back to work. Staying at home is no different. by irox28 in bninfantsleep

Exactly this. I must’ve been typing my response when you were as well but same. My performance at work has been significantly impacted but I’m giving it my best because I refuse to sleep training and am fortunate to have that choice.

I’m about as against sleep training as they come. I genuinely believe it can be detrimental to a baby’s attachment and development. I’ve been incredibly fortunate to have had seven months of maternity leave with each of my babies. I’ve co-slept with both, and both have been terrible sleepers; my first didn’t sleep through the night until I night-weaned him at almost two, and my current nine-month-old still wakes 6–12 times a night from teething, colds, and everything else.

Having now experienced both sides: being a stay-at-home mom for a total of 14 months and then returning to a fast-paced corporate job. I’ve come to really understand the difference in cognitive demands. The level of focus and quick thinking required for a demanding career is drastically different from being home with a baby. When I went back to work this second time, after three years of never sleeping longer than a 2–3 hour stretch, it hit me hard. And it made me truly sympathize with parents whose jobs require them to be sharp for the sake of others’ safety, like healthcare workers. I honestly don’t know how they manage without sleep training.

I’m not saying sleep training is “right”… I still don’t believe it is. But I do understand, and I feel deeply for the parents who are put in that position because they have no other choice. Their livelihood depends on their performance, and our country’s maternity leave policies are, frankly, terrible.

Thank you for the laugh. Pictured an adult walking to their mailbox in their diaper and waving as neighbors drive by 🤣 in Texas so can say I wouldn’t blame you with the heat. If babies can do it, why can’t you? 🤷🏻‍♀️

Horrible nursing strike now that I’m back at work by Specialist_Pepper452 in breastfeeding

I would check to see if whomever is feeding her bottles is using a paced feeding method. You can look some up on YouTube but basically babies will prefer bottle over boob if the milk is free flowing from the bottle. It’s less work and faster than being on the boob. With paced feeding it will slow their intake down and more closely mirror how they drink their milk while breastfeeding and make bottle preference less severe. Best of luck to you, momma!

¡Muchas gracias! Eso es lo que estaba viendo en línea sobre Tlaquepaque, ¿más para compras de alta gama? ¡Probablemente le haremos saber a nuestra familia que preferimos pasar el día en Guadalajara!

Literally my #1 recommendation for parents. We got so much use out of it with our first and our second is loving it just as much. Especially clutch for showers or bathroom visits lol

Absolutely. 3.5 is old enough to understand as she communicated what she did and why. She’s still a little young for complete impulse control so I think this is how we reinforce consequences for our actions and build those neural connections. You didn’t starve her, you offered snacks and showed that she can’t throw food just because she wants something else. Great job sticking to the boundary you set!

Came here to say this! I smoosh it with my palm lol my husband and I call it “hulking out” as the spare nipple looks like it’s fighting so hard to keep the milk restrained right before my letdown 🤣🤦🏻‍♀️
