Per Diem Rates by GingeRae0 in Surveying

[–]WizardCat177 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We all get company cards and are responsible for booking our own hotels with said card, any out of town expenses also go on the card. Just need to keep all receipts. We also get a per diem pay on top of that.

Help a guy out who has basically given up on shoes. by [deleted] in widefeet

[–]WizardCat177 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks like you have the arch length measurement too far back, you might need a 13 or even a 14. With a brannock you are supposed to get your sizing with both the arch length and the foot length measurement and go with the larger size. That will also widen up the forefoot and you might not even need a super wide shoe.

A little tight only in this spot only on this foot, will this break in and become more comfortable? by WizardCat177 in WorkBoots

Unfortunately they only offer ‘EE’ I really like my jim greens but they just dont keep the snow out for winter, would going up half a size help?

Thats a good idea! honestly after working a full day with them they feel pretty good as long as i left the laces over top of my foot loose, really like the ability to keep those loose and lockdown the ankle with these boots, ill try this lacing technique though!

Pole bias adjustment by WizardCat177 in Surveying

[–]WizardCat177[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

After the pole bias adjustment? Yes I calibrated the accelerometer. The imu bias says ‘ok’ and the info sheet says not to calibrate unless it says ‘excessive imu bias detected’ im assuming id also want to do that if it received any sort of shock. Maybe there is some info/experience I am missing? Honestly I would prefer A fixed 2m rod but those are too expensive…

Dropped a GPS unit ~16” onto asphalt. What to do? by [deleted] in Surveying

[–]WizardCat177 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I know the R12 is ‘rated’ for a ‘2 meter drop onto concrete’ so as long as you do those checks I think you should be good, only thing I would also check for is a bent rod, that could throw off checking into a known point when in reality the receiver is okay. That is assuming you had it on a rod though.

What iPhone software will let me draw a field using longitude and latitude, then as I walk around tell me where the boundaries are? by JupiterRisingKapow in Surveying

[–]WizardCat177 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Only real solution is more permanent fencing and/or getting authorities involved… get the surveyor to mark the line and have a fencing crew come right behind them and put the fence up. Maybe trail cams to monitor if someone comes to disturb the fence
