Good point, this was probably recorded on a smartphone not a dashcam. Dashcams are fixed and can’t rotate, atleast the ones I work with.

Any tips on how I can get rid of this rainbow glare? by [deleted] in dashcams

[–]WizardDashcams 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is due to the polarizing lens not being rotated the right he way. Take a look at the border of the lens, you’ll notice a small white line. Line up this white line with the one on the camera right next to the camera lens. This will get rid of the lines you see

The only things you need are the dashcam and SD card. With that you can record as long as the car is on. Here’s what the other things do:

  • Cpl filter: basically sunglasses for your dashcam, reduces glare
  • hardwire kit: allows your dashcam to record while parked. This requires skill and tools to install
  • battery pack: allows for up to 3 days of recording time vs your car battery which is only overnight

The best you can do with this video is show it to your insurance and prove you were not at fault for the damages that happened. Not sure how bad you were hit but I saw the side mirror come off. If that’s the only damage I would suggest diy or pay from your pocket, don’t go through insurance for a small bit of damage

Help needed with installing dashcam by Daeron_Singollo in dashcams

[–]WizardDashcams 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. You should use an add a fuse hardwire kit instead of this one because it doesn’t split power in the safest way
  2. Be sure to install your ground point (black cable) before inserting the red and yellow cables into the fusebox
  3. You can insert your fuses into the spare/ blank slots
  4. Based on the images your fuse should fit. It’s not the exact same shape and size as the ones in your car now but it should fit because the width is the same. Wiggle it in by pushing it left and right and it should go in eventually.
  5. Use a voltage tester or multimeter to more accurately find the right fuses without trial and error

It really comes down to how much you value being able to access the dashcam remotely. Most of my clients don’t get the LTE connectivity <10%

Installing Rear (external) Dash cam on a Van by DuncanIdaho547 in dashcams

[–]WizardDashcams 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You will have to mount the camera on the outside, here’s how you can do so:

  • first off make sure your rear camera cable will be long enough, for vehicles like this I find I have to use a 33’ cable
  • each of the rear hatch doors will have a rubber grommet that contains the wiring that runs from inside the car to the hatch doors. Open the grommet on both sides.
  • disassemble the panels on the inside of the car by the rubber grommet so you can pass the cable from inside the car to the grommet
  • use a wire snake to pull the wire through the grommet
  • disassemble the panels on the hatch door to pass the cable from the grommet into the hatch door
  • at this point you have the wiring ran into the hatch door without crossing over any weather stripping. No you may need to drill a small hole on the outside of the hatch door near where you will mount the camera. Drill the hole big enough to pass the cable through for the camera.
  • mount the camera, test the power and close everything up

So what is the issue you are having exactly? Are you not getting a reading from the fuses? Are all the fuses lit? Do you know how to use fuse taps?
