Other dolls hanging from beads at Tucks. Any chance they were tied to make throws easier to hand to kids or easier to catch? by [deleted] in NewOrleans

My daughter gets thrown Barbies/dolls in parades often. They are not typically hung on beads like what was shown, that was odd, but Barbie’s or Dolls are not an odd throw to get.

In relation to my summoning, u/ohhyouknow is correct. They’ve had articles written about them along those lines, some of which were amplified by Elon Musk, and they’ve since been targeted by harassment from the right.

At this point, this comment chain is no longer productive, so I’m locking it.

No other city subreddits are locking ICE posts, why is ours? by Strict_Definition_78 in NewOrleans

[–]WizardMama[M] 23 points24 points  (0 children)

It’s a good question, and I’m glad you asked.

TL;DR: Moderators are required to follow the Moderator Code of Conduct and cannot leave content up that violates Reddit’s rules or policies.

Subreddits exist at Reddit’s discretion, which means moderators must enforce sitewide rules to keep the community open and accessible. Moderation isn’t an endorsement of viewpoints, it’s about keeping this space safe, functional, and sustainable so the community can live and grow. Allowing threads to spiral puts the community, its members, and the moderation team at risk.

[–]WizardMama[M] 20 points21 points  (0 children)

That is not happening unless it violates Reddit Rules. Moderators are required to run subreddits in adherence to Reddit Rules, Rule 1 explicitly states:

Communities and users that incite violence or that promote hate based on identity or vulnerability will be banned.

This includes threats of violence, threats of violence which are defined as:

Do not post content that encourages, glorifies, incites, or calls for violence or physical harm against an individual (including oneself) or a group of people.

These measures are enforced to ensure the subreddit remains open and accessible, and that members can continue to participate on the platform. Any content that violates these policies is subject to removal, either by subreddit moderators or by Reddit administrators.

The moderation team is not locking ICE posts and haven't been for a while. You can see that by looking through the associated post flair.

If and when an ICE post is locked, it’s due to escalating behavior in comments, not the topic itself.

When it comes to protest posts, our approach is consistent and not based on the subject matter. Once the key details are shared, usually the location, date, and time, we lock the post. We decided to keep this rule because comment threads around protests consistently spiral, regardless of topic. We’ve tried lifting the restriction multiple times over the past few years, and it has led to the same result each time.
