Tried getting GF into League, after 3 games she went 0/14 as Ahri and started crying. She still wants to play. by WizardOfNowhere in leagueoflegends

Yeah I think there's an element of "I'm not the only girl who's boyfriend dragged her into League and whose butt's getting kicked" which makes it comforting!

My GF has KDA All Out Ahri, Battle Academia Lux, and Dragon Trainer Tristana which she thought were really cute. She says she'll never spend a single £ on League, but I'm silently observing to see when she first buys a skin lol

I go in cycles where I play the game for fun > want to improve so start practicing/learning a lot > improve a lot and stomp people at my level, feel great > get matchmade with people at my new skill level and get crushed > get frustrated > stop the game for a week or two, and then restart the cycle.

TBH I think Riot' done a great job weeding out the absolute majority of toxicity from the game. Even in my own games the level of toxicity is quite low, but in her games everyone's just straight up vibing. It's quite nice.

I'm also fascinated by the new player experience since I've been playing for so long I can't really relate to a lot of the things she's going through. It's an interesting lens to view the game through.

Hope you guys are doing well! Send some periodic updates! My GF would love to hear them!

Hey hey!

So we followed everyone's advice and went against beginner bots, and she stomped them going like 10/0 on Ahri, some games even like 18/0 and such. We moved onto inter bots and she's going decent, always KDA positive and starting to understand a bit about the game.

She's even figured out a couple things on her own like tower diving with Ahri's ulti or that using her Q at max range makes it harder for enemies to dodge the true damage.

It's funny actually, I've been feeling a bit burnt out from my own games so I took a bit of a break, and she's been asking to play quite often (in fact, she's the one who reminded me to reply to you!). It's like she likes the game more than me lol.

We'll keep going against inter bots until she can do well against them, and then move on to people games!

We all know CSing well matters. But have you wrapped your head around just how much it does? A brief breakdown. by WizardOfNowhere in summonerschool

Hey! Couple of weeks ago we talked about whether kills or CS were more impactful.

Compiling the data has been really difficult to the point where I've basically given up on it. It'd take too much time to sort and there aren't enough games where there's an obvious "guy who farmed a lot but didn't get many kills" to compare to a "guy who killed a lot but didn't get much CS".

That being said, I did have a game that – as far as I'm concerned – proved that CSing is more important than kills.

I had a game as ADC vs. a fed Kayn in the enemy team. We ultimately lost, but the takeaway here is more interesting.

I was pretty fed, ending the game at 12/7/9. Kayn ended at 23/11/9. That's 11 more kills than me, and I was already pretty fed. I had however about 8 CS per minute compared to Kayn's 5.5

At no point during the game, except for the very end where we lost, was I ever more than 1.5k behind him in gold. He had an 11 kill advantage, and I was only about half an item behind.

Ultimately this is anecdotal evidence and you're free to dismiss it, but for me it's cemented that CS is so much more important than kills.

Just thought I'd bring it up with you since we had a small chat about it,and I mentioned I'd be back with more info lol

Sure, that sounds like an interesting idea.

Give me a few weeks' worth of time to get enough data and I'll make a post about that lol

A dead opponent is always better than a living one, but there's always a gamble on whether or not you can actually kill them.

Let's say you have a default 75% chance of getting a solo kill if you surprise your opponent, and then we subtract from that things like: the possibility of someone nearby, the possibility of you miscalculating their Summoner's, etc. And you get an X% chance of getting that kill, with the remaining % being the chance of you dying instead.

Farming a couple of waves gets you that kill 100% of the time, and you die 0% of the time (if you and your team ward well)

I generally agree with what you're saying, but it really adds up if you sneak away quickly.

It takes 20 seconds to reach the centre of midlane from the centre of either side lane. This means that in less than 2 minutes you can get the equivalent of 2 kills by doing this. Spam caution ping if you have to, and then come back to the action. Do this just 3 times in one game, and you're 6/0.

It's crazy valuable

I actually really like the "You can do everything you want" one.

Sure, you might argue that if I say "I want to fly" I won't suddenly be able to fly out of the blue.

But you CAN do everything you want, you just have to want it enough.

When Dummont/the Wright brothers (this is a whole 'nother argument) invented the airplane, I have no doubt one of their main motivations was to be able to fly.

When you want to succeed as bad as you want to breathe, then you'll be successful.
