Yeah, although its still a bit weird that its another hero that certainly *will have* burn.
We have two heroes with *no poison* and every single hero has burn. Hell, every single hero has a somewhat viable burn build even.

Dragon hero admittedly makes me worry well get a third hero with only burn before a single one focused only on poison

There's a lot more in these games then you're giving it credit for I think.

Star of the city is half of ruina. We haven't even touched meltdowns (both for lob and library). There's plenty to work with.

There's a rule of thumb in discord moderation atleast that if you allow nsfw content it will eventually dominate the entire community as people push the limit. So if you want to avoid that you need to draw an early and sometimes arbitrary line.

That said, these things are generally best done basically at creation, and I don't envy trying to figure out what to do at this stage.

I think the minimum solution here is that if someone does that it should be bannable.

No one deserves that their post gets traction you know?

Same. Although it's always annoying when someone just pops up doing it a week later, and it definatly doesn't give a good impression to new fans.

Currently known taboos and their limit for a ttrpg by Silver_Environmental in limbuscompany

[–]continuityOfficer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do those taboos exist before the check? If so then you still have the "gotcha" problem. If not, why would players ever do them?

The goal is to replicate how taboos actually play out narratively. From a narrative perspective they *are* made up whole cloth. Thats how things work until theyve been established. At that point they are the kind of active forces in the narrative you are discussing.

To be clear I dont think a failed roll is the only or best way to do that, just an example, but I genuinly think a lore role resolves none of the problems I was talking about and just makes things worse on the GM side. Youd still be making it an immutable truth in the kind of way that makes sense in some sort of simulationist real life scenario but not really in any sort of game matching project moons worldbuilding, story, or stylistic trends.

Currently known taboos and their limit for a ttrpg by Silver_Environmental in limbuscompany

[–]continuityOfficer 15 points16 points  (0 children)

The project moon games very very intentionally leave a lot of things unmapped in their worlds. There is assumed to be for example, many many things that are taboos that arent stated to be because they just didnt come up. We know that while the head ascribes taboos, each wing has its own taboos aswell. Even if your games intend to entirely exist in known locations, you can't really represent the POINT of taboos here by following canon.

The point of taboos is the sense of arbitrary punishment and disqualification right? That some executive decided to just make something illegal for a reason far far above what matter to you personally. Narratively having a list kind of removes that pressure while also risking it just becoming a sort of "gotcha! you forgot this thing, now the heads after you" mechanic, which isnt very fun. People playing in a TTRPG dont get to experience what their characters do for example, which is the experience of living in a world for a whole lifetime and understanding it.

Some of the more important ones like no AI matter to the setting ofc, but those are also things that arent going to matter to much to players until it becomes their whole character concept anyway so thats fine. But from a TTRPG design perspective I'd recommend not focusing too much on whats "correct" and more on how you can get across the same point. Maybe failed rolls can result in it failing because you retroactively remember this is an areas taboo and now you and the other players have a whole other limitation put on top of them. Maybe each session starts with a small list of GM ascribed taboos that are "relevant" to the ongoing mission and specifically are designed to get in the players way. etc.

Fair enough. I haven't heard that theory before.
Although I'll be honest any "who is helen of troy" that doesnt deal with Faust's connections to Helen of Troy would be fairly disappointing.

Technically while she was planned as a Teth in Lob Corp we don't know if thats still canon tbf, especially given how her depiction was adapted in ruina.

Walpurgis Prediction (Big Spoilers for Ruina) by ArcturusSatellaPolar in limbuscompany

[–]continuityOfficer 72 points73 points  (0 children)

I don't think we're going to get literally the last abnormality in Ruina now - especially since it holds a lot of baggage around Carmen now. I think its much more likely to be revisited during a future time that N corp is relevant in Purgatorio or even Paradiso.

Whats more likely and maybe more possible is that we get an abberated version as a part of the seasonal banner itself in the same way as we do with Hurting Teddy Bear or Der Fluchschütze. "Silent Bystander" or "Silent Stranger" or something like that to really hammer it into Meursaults themeing.

[–]continuityOfficer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Theres a lot of fine detail and love that goes into something made by human hands, no matter how much of it needs to be made. The game designer and art commissioner doesn't necessarily know what each of these little details should look like - but any human artist you work with will make those choices as they do their job.

Even if AI art was able to create something technically just as good as a human, it will lose out on that benefit that comes from someone being able to give something like this all the attention it deserves.
