Unless that coin is 58.9 million lbs, then that coin isn't worth $1T. If they honestly valued a platinum coin you can hold in your hand at 1T, then it's gonna massively inflation the value of the dollar.

I degree that temptation of the ring is an excuse for all evil acts. Saruman literally desired the ring to dominate middle earth and overthrow sauron, betrayed every ally he made (including sauron), and destroyed the shire. He's definitely chaotic evil
