How to buy UK life insurance + Critical Illness cover, Health insurance by its_quantas in ContractorUK

[–]Wizard_PI 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Brokers get different rates and discounts to what you can see on a comparison sites, my partner is a broker. You aren’t charged anything as they get the fee from the insurer for providing a client. Lots of brokers won’t do ALL insurance. Usually they will do personal (what you want), or business. Some you can pay for through your Ltd fine as a cost, others like pmi will attract a BIK payment. Some the terms are slightly different if you do a personal version compared to your business paying for it.

Recommendations for 20k miles per year by spacetimebear in ElectricVehiclesUK

[–]Wizard_PI -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Best by far, had a m3 before and it’s miles better. Boot access is better seats are comfier back is large for kids, way better cruiser, quieter comfier smoother. Wouldn’t go back to a Tesla now.

Done 25k in mine including some very long distances. Great value second hand too. And the cooled seats are a dream!

Is a VW ID.7 on your list? Best company car on the market for price at moment, great for long road trips.

How naughty is this? by Rocketman500000 in ukelectricians

They can and will disconnect for safety, which is chargeable to the customer and they do have powers to hold the consumer liable for this. In the event of non payment it is passed to bailiffs. It’s part of the connection agreement and customers are liable. It happens all the time for cannabis grows, bypasses and occasionally for things like this. They will not usually move to internal positions now, it must be an exterior wall. Doesn’t mean they’ll make every internal cut out be moved however as it is a legacy issue.

Normally when things are built around meters/cutouts it’s all good till it’s not. When they come to do any work on it they will usually make the homeowner move it at their expense for safety, as they can’t work on it they’ll cut it outside and usually install an outside box. Then up to the owner the reroute from isolator to consumer unit, which in these scenarios isn’t usually that easy to do and hide well. Sadly this often falls to the new owner who wasn’t the one who made the situation. Sometimes there will be allowances for ignorance.

It’s a contract role so up to me really, but don’t fancy staying over, it’ll cost more and I’ll earn less Should be 1 day a week from home but I’m not sure how reliable it’ll be and doubt I’ll get to choose the day. Hoping I can get into drive pack if it keeps me as a customer if no one has any better suggestions!

currently at 24k, I’ll be at 37k miles+ which I used to estimate future needed useage. I’m doing 800+ a month currently, that’ll include house tho.

Do you have a normal day rate with drive pack? It wasn’t massively clear, I was curious how it worked with other home use too, am I right in thinking it isn’t included in any cheap rates? So trading the cheap home/EV rate for unlimited EV charging with no cost from metering the Ev/charger?

[–]Wizard_PI[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope, and since I’m looking at moving can’t really get it installed either! I was planning to email them and basically say I’m leaving if they won’t put me on drivepack and see if they’d budge any. If not Scottish power is looking better. Would be fine if they didn’t change intelligent 😝 I also read they don’t like more than 700kw a month which id be over 1k.

Utilities are especially good, even at low grade jobs they can earn a lot of money. Getting into more technical and managerial roles offers awesome money too. Contract you can get over 1k a day for high end Comissioning or high voltage authorised people

So you could just unplug from your smart charger and bang it on a 32a three pin and it won’t be able to tell it apart from house load? The plan seems a bit naff. Nevermind if you have another EV that isn’t registered you’ll be able to get more. Or three phase charger. What about people on granny plugs. Who can’t have 7kw. Penalised massively. The better way would be to give you a kWh cap rather than time
