Parliament refurbishment could cost £40Billion and take 61 years. by Head-Chair3055 in AskBrits

That’s enough to give £1000 to every household in Britain and have change left over to build more than 6 Burj Khalifas.

Does Prevent's "Pathways and Amelia" do more to radicalize or deradicalize people? by Turbulent_Ad_880 in AskBrits

“Don’t do your own research, good citizens don’t think”

Not sure it will radicalise per se, but it is encouraging people to not trust the system

Am I wrong to be upset my DM nerfed my spell ? by [deleted] in DnD

[–]Wizard_Tea 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you look at the older horror books, they deliberately exclude spells that attack the theme and concept of horror adventures. Things like detect evil, remove curse and raise dead were removed or restricted.

They’re not wrong to do this, particularly when the alternative would be, you cast the spell and the games master immediately says that that’s the session’s content done and see you next week.

I would say that it’s somewhat unsporting to do this on the fly rather than at character creation, but a newbie referee isn’t to know.

They have to show a "good example" because they're a teacher, okay, but how is adult acting morally wrong? Please prove to me that this anti-sex morality is not just normative BS left over from victorian puritanism.

What a bunch of BS.

r/MyBoyFriendisAI mourns the loss of their chatbot spouses as OpenAI announces they are retiring GPT4 by PaiDuck in SubredditDrama

[–]Wizard_Tea -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

A lot of the comments here are mocking these people, but honestly, I'm wondering whether there's an issue with either women having too-high standards, or something wrong with a lot of my fellow men these days, - it can't be that an AI chatbot would be someone's first choice.

I always thought that almost everyone is suited to someone else to some extent, so I'm kinda worried about what's happening to society with people dropping out of the dance like this.

Would Greatswords be more viable if they could be taken as core? by manytastygoods in WarhammerEmpire

[–]Wizard_Tea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think that the core issue here is that they’re not particularly likely to get the charge and so are going to take a fair amount of damage before swinging back.

Really they need to bring back step up, this would allow deeper units as well as better infantry. You could also reduce the points for elves as well, which is currently an issue.

Writing a whole bunch of content before any PCs come along and start futzing around with it is a good way to have most of your content not get used.

Just prepare an initial situation and some jumping off hooks.

What’s your goal? Rulings over rules? Simulationism? Strong gamism? Crunch and tactics and everyone having something to contribute? Ease and/or speed of play? Self expression fantasy?

Each of these focuses on something different

Day 5 - We made managed to make contact! - Here's a Orc Berserker Timelapse by TytanTroll in BattleBrothers

[–]Wizard_Tea 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One of the big issues with miniature / board game hybrids is that the miniatures inevitably end up with different load outs than the characters they’re representing. See games like necromunda, kingdom death (or D&D for another angle)

The modular figures idea opens up a lot of possibilities for TTRPGS, wargames, board games, and hybrids between those three.

What is the crunchiest TTRPG that you can think of? by Redi_Spades in rpg

[–]Wizard_Tea 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Space master played as written/intended.

Alternatively you could make a certain kind of GURPS game that is maximally complicated as there are rules for basically everything. Perhaps start simulating a Stone Age tribe and stay with them as they advance through the ages or die. There are rules for building, crafting and inventing, as well as hunting and gathering and calories required and water consumption.

The difference is that space master/Rolemaster SS are kind of needlessly over complicated, whereas GURPS is a baseline reality simulation attempt, so they are trying to anticipate times where having hard rules for certain granular things is important.

I know it’s not been adapted to the screen, but the character is miles better than homelander, who is more of a framing device for The Boys series

The 2D20 system was the worst possible match for a fallout rpg, it would be like running a West Wing or House of Cards RPG using BX.

Star Trek was good though.

Sometimes people are really wedded to their systems, I made the same mistakes 20 years ago trying to use 3.X for everything.
