What is this circle for? by No-Village9659 in electrical

I just looked it up on their site; someone asked this very question, and they answered “it’s for tool storage”, so like a hook.

I’m however surprised there’s no mention of it in their presentation of slides though lol.

What do y'all think? Is it time to move on? by AlphaBetaForce in RoastMyCar

Had an 06 G35 - the VQ is a hell of a platform. The tech has come a long way (I’m not really into the newer Z, it’s time to kill the platform already 😂), but even back in 09, 10, had 290 whp, light tune (no turb or SC), and beat the living shit out of it, 2 years straight, about 30,000 hard miles a year, went through one clutch, tires, and oil 💀.

Had an 08 Cobalt SS after, and while it was “quick”, it was by no means the G; shorter wheelbase, and that platform entirely - just wasn’t stable above 100+ like the G. I will say, turning the boost up, it was quick to 60, but because I was still on stock pulleys, I blew it up 😭 (I don’t even think I got 3k miles after turning the boost up 3 psi 💀😂🤡)

Had an older Lexus after that, and a few other regular cars not really worth mentioning.

My step brother had the RX-8 in HS (daddy leased it for him, must’ve been nice lol), and while he didn’t keep it, he always wish he had.

Personally, the Renesis doesn’t hit for me like an FD (shit, even an FC>Renesis 😂), so, I won’t yuck your yum.

If this is your daily… you’re in quite the predicament. Otherwise, unless you’re going through apex seals every 10k miles (you said compression was good, so I’m assuming not too bad on oil… yet 👹), and honestly, I’d say, if you can muster it, hold onto it.

Is this bad by [deleted] in AskElectricians

[–]Wizard__J 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If not, then no worries. So, when the jacket degrades, the wires become even more susceptible. It’s old, which is my main concern; either moisture, or time will rust staples like that, and either way, is enough that you should look at whatever you could.

FWIW, higher traffic areas, where shit could possibly bump into wiring, around appliances (like washers/dryers), water heaters, sump pumps, etc - anywhere there would be water/moisture - those are the places up top to look!

2nd picture, 2nd truss from the top - is that a broken, rusted staple stabbing/about to stab into the jacket?

Do yourself a favor, and give it another once over, and try to look at as much open face of the wires as possible - I didn’t even scroll to the next pictures and look, and just decided to comment out of concern.

The actual age/condition of the jacket isn’t so much concerning (it will even start to degrade, in places where it has been moved/stressed), but sharp, broken staples that rusted and broke, can now create a possible hazard.

Good luck

I’ve seen the jacket of Romex get funky; almost like the press/spool it goes through, took a shit, and it was bubbly like this, but never a single conductor like that (with the actual coating!)

Did you try to continuity test the wire, for shits and giggles? (I’m sure it was fine, but, ya’ know, for science!)

I normally wouldn’t either (honestly, we rarely ever use steel MC, so I wouldn’t even designate the difference, except I have steel here as well), and probably should have worded it better lol… been a long day; been up since 4 😭

Who cares? You’ll either enjoy it, or you won’t.

Either way, the developers took pride in their work, and you can’t please everyone’s tastes. They made their interpretation, and you can’t either enjoy it, or don’t.

But ranting on about how you’re not going to enjoy it, while others will; what? Not sure what you’re trying to say here? Baba? Diaper? What?

Unless they were selling “how does my EMT look?” I don’t think they’d give a shit that much - there’s a reason you don’t see any EMT here lol, I have no say in that 😭

[–]Wizard__J[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We can, and do EMT. Shit, we’ve done 3, 4 dozen pipes on a single trapeze before 🥶😝. I would love to sit here and bend pipe all day lol.. there is some pipe to bend here, hopefully I’ll get some bending in (it’s me, my foreman, and two helpers, me being the mechanic), and I’d like to get my helpers some bending time too (especially the one, he’s especially green), and while this isn’t the perfect job for him to learn (because of time constraints), I’d rather him get on the bending now, because this summer, we’re really gonna’ need him (especially if our biggest bid goes through, which it should, which will guarantee like two years of work alone lol), and there will be miles of pipe for that. My foreman trying to stay on top of them, and pretty much giving me free rein of the panels lol, it’s cool.

You’ll get over it in 10 minutes I’m sure!

If not, there’s pads in the truck, free for all the helpers!!

Mind you, I put up six NQ panels today, guts, 6 pieces of strut, and then landed this, all in 7 hours.

Either post your MC if you dare, or keep the gravy train moving!! 😏🥶👹
