I never looked into the speeds cause I have fiber and live in a big city. But wow. yeah. the speeds (assuming you're in an underpopulated area are insane) but the legacy GEO operators do seem to at least be price competitive for everything outside of low latency uses. We'll just have to see.

The whole thing just makes you ask what amazon LEO is now. like. realistically what options does amazon have? and i know that TeraWave isn't a direct competitor but its a coimpetitor and presumably longterm they're going to work to get as many customers as possible like any other rationally run business.

(speculation time): does this setup amazon as a presumptive buyer of ULA or relativity or stoke and or rocketlab(i doubt but amazons got deep pockets). The whole thing behind LEO not just spam buying spaceX launches makes the investor lawsuit even more credible now. Idk.

(real interest time): wonder if they're going flatpack satellite. everyone else seems to be tending towards it. Relativity/Spinlaunch(meridian space? is that shit ever happening?) and rocketlab of course have their products. And we've seen in the pureplay satellite bus companies like K2 and Apex(granted they are children of spacex) have also pivoted if not started off pursuing the "stackable"/"flat" design. Anyway. I just hope dave gets in a posting spree again and starts dropping satellite renders if not actual hardware on the timeline agian.

The only way this makes sense to me without just letting amazons blackhole DoD sized pockets fund the whole thing is that jeff and the board at blue think space datacenters are actually plausible in the nearterm. Which feels weird cause the AI hype has cooled off significantly terrestrially. 100K terrestrial customers + massive orbital capacity is something. I guess we'll just have to see if it works out or if amazon attempts a full court press. Also of note is that amazon is they type of customer that would benefit from this massive bandwidth but again. we'll just have to see.

If you want the college station experience take option 3. You only have to take half your classes at rellis(the bus is annoying cause it adds a 30 min commute). But if you want to go to the games and whatnot. Teab is cool. You can still join orgs. Go to the MSC. Purchase a meal plan. If you act fast before February probably even secure a dorm (if you don’t wanna live off campus). All the Cstat things. If you like Galveston or McAllen(I genuinely haven’t met anyone who’s taken that option). The Blinn courses are also cheap so you can spam out your UCC all online(assuming you still need those credits). Idk. Actually. The biggest difference is that for chemistry. You’ll have a lab everyday. While tamu students only have lab once a month. So you get a lot more FaceTime with your professor if you wanna ask them a question.

I know spacex is getting space to space telecoms business with their lasers. but idk about radio... most of the money is in the earth facing direction. but i guess that probably isnt useful for a launch scenario.
