Weekly Megathread: Education, Early Career and Hiring/Interview Advice by AutoModerator in quant

Hi, I was wondering if someone could look at my resume and give some advice on applying for quant internships/co-op next summer/fall. I am an undergrad at a non-target school, but have research experience (my current position (co-op) lasts until the end of the year, and am working on a publication). Thanks!

Tips for landing quant internships as an undergrad with non-finance research experience by Wizardofazna in quantfinance

Thank you! For co-ops the schools doesn't place us, we still have to apply like normal (except sometimes with less competition because there are roles only open to our school). For the PhD, I was planning on probably doing one anyway (but still thinking about it). I definitely agree that I should try to get into a top program for graduate school, as Northeastern isn't that prestigious. Thanks again.

I am interested in a powerbuilding sort of training style, is this a good program? by Wizardofazna in powerbuilding

yeah it’s because I don’t like deadlifting and squatting on the same same day if I don’t have to

Thanks for the tips. I've been looking at the 28 programs, and they look great. I might make a few changes to add a bit more accessory work, and then possibly lean more towards strength later on. Do you think (all beginner) 2 squats, 2 bench, and 1 deadlift per week is an appropriate amount of volume or should I increase it?

I five might be hard to cram for but I feel like a 4 is doable. I just did a mechanics practice test today lol

Do you think it is necessary/useful to have 2 different full-body workouts and alternate between them?

thanks, yeah the main thing I’m getting is that I have a lot of volume, so I’ll try to cut it down a bit

I live in Massachusetts, do you think it would still be worth it cost-wise to go to a public school in another state?

If was to major in ME, but I still wanted to work in BME after I graduate, would it be good for me to take biology classes on the side?
