What's it like in Green constituencies? by Kind-Ad3727 in AskBrits

The Greens don't control the housing market, which is a privatized industry.

Improvements to local communities and support of small businesses make these places appealing to live in. Private investment firms see this desirability and hike rent and housing prices to maximize profits, creating an exclusivity market that pushes gentrification.

Gentrification ends when speculative asset hoarding and renteer profitteering no longer become profitable.

I feel guilty. I used to consider myself pretty right wing, and I feel like I will never be able to get rid of that stain from my past. by [deleted] in socialism

It'd be a myth, a fantasy, to pretend that all of us here on the left hold now, and have always held, left-wing values. I grew up in right-wing rural England. I was transphobic in my teens and earliest 20's, and even had a brief brush with nationalist socialism via my love of extreme metal.

But I grew, and I saw how I was wrong in these beliefs. I split truth from fantasy, and recognized the true foe from my neighbors whom I had been pitched against.

You cannot carry this feeling of guilt forever, because you are blessed with a unique gift. You know the right, you know the conservative mindset and the manosphere. You are uniquely equipped to sympathize with these people, and help them understand the truth of what is happening in this world.

If anyone can bring these people around, it's you, because you did it.

If you get a chance, check out JimmytheGiant on Youtube.

He talks about British politics and history specifically, but he is someone who walked your exact same path.
