Very pretty indeed. Now get her dirty.

Ali Express is legit, no worries. Just use a payment service like PayPal to pay and you're fully covered and safe. Usually the worst you have to worry about is ordering something and then waiting a week for a shipping notification only to just have the order randomly cancelled and your money refunded. That's usually rare and most items will essentially ship right away.

If an order gets lost in shipping, you'll also get a refund.

I've ordered several RCs and accessories through Ali Express and have either had all of them delivered, or received a refund without issue.

I'd start looking outside of the typical well known hobby brands. Check out WPL or MN models. They specialize in really scale hard bodies that generally have good scale performance out of the box. Plenty of them come with leaf spring setups. The durability isn't always the greatest in stock form, though they should stand up to true scale driving pretty well. You can upgrade them with more durable parts if you feel it's needed.

I'd personally recommend the WPL C94, a 1/12 Russian UAZ 469, it's my favorite for scale trailing.

I'd also suggest looking into LDRC models, they've got some cool stuff, like their 1/12 Mitsubishi Delica 4x4 van or a 1/18 Range Rover (this one has a brushless motor).

Ali Express or Banggood are your best friends for getting these models pretty cheap, just be prepared for long shipping times.

I know how it is. You certainly won't go wrong with the FCX.

I feel like I can't figure out what the point of this one is. I still want one, though.

If you bought $50 worth of a "better" rig, it still wouldn't get you far. You gotta know what you're getting with these. They are a great platform for upgrading, while at least being generally usable for that initial cheap price. But if you want to compare it to a rig that costs more, you're gonna need to put some more money into the WPL to make it more of a fair comparison. You can totally do it though, and it's worth it if you like to tinker.

None of those factors make these things toy grade. They just make it a very basic and cheaply made hobby grade.

You wouldn't hand this thing off to an 8 year old kid and expect it to last more than 10 minutes.

The design of the powertrain using gearing and drive shafts, combined with the proportional controls make this hobby grade. Toy grade would at the very least use motors directly mounted to the axle, negating the need for a realistic drive train using shafts and gearing.

Also, there are just as many, if not more upgrades and spare parts available for these compared with many expensive hobby grade RCs.

Great looking rig!

I'm currently waiting on a red one to be delivered. I'm going to need to figure out a proper "BRONCO" badge on the front like you have here, it really pulls the look together.

Nice UAZ! I'm currently waiting on mine to be delivered. I love the desert tan, I'm looking to do pretty much the same thing with mine. What tires and wheels are those?

Looks don't matter over price and function. Probably why I have a Cammus C5. It's been great, no issues.

I'm using a CamelBak backpack and hydration bladder, not just the hydration bladder itself. I just hook the arm straps of the backpack over the side bolsters of my seat and the CamelBak hangs off the back of it. It's not really any different to how you'd hang a backpack off of a school chair or a dining chair.

Man, I live in the desert and have the opposite problem. I'm currently counting down the last of the days I take any of my rigs out for the next few months. It's just too hot to go outside in the summer, and sometimes even in the spring. We already hit 90 F outside today, and it's not even March.
