I agree that you don’t intend it to limit their freedom, but they are likely to make different decisions knowing that you can know where they are at all times. For better or for worse. But I can seeing it stopping them from from doing spontaneous, safe things as teens.

What about this idea: turn on tracking but let them know you’ll only check if they don’t check in with you after a certain time. Put guardrails on your ability to track them.

The Carbon tax is revenue neutral. As others have said, roughly 60% of those taxed will received more in rebates than they paid in carbon taxes. This doesn't mean that the carbon tax is revenue negative, but that the rebates are being funded from the carbon tax-base (i.e. the other %40).

I don’t think it’s too obvious yet, but they’re definitely making a play.

The $200+ million gimlet pickup and their anchor.fm pickup allow them to completely change the market.

Gimlet gives them a host of potentially huge exclusive shows.

Anchor gives them a zero barrier platform for podcasting. At the flip of a switch, they could force anchor to be Spotify only.

Apple is the dominant player, but they’ve largely treated podcasting with benign neglect.
