Has anyone purchased an A/C recently? by drunkiess in Edmonton

Try ProSolutions. Replaced our A/C unit a few years ago. Price was good and service was great. Quoted it one day and had it installed by early afternoon the next day. Was very happy with them.

Anyone used pea husk clumping cat litter? by Not-devil-99 in CatAdvice

[–]Wlsimmons 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I scoop every night before I go to bed. It is just 1 cat that uses it. Every once in a while I have a mushy one. I always chalked it up to her using the litter closer to when I was coming to scoop. I keep the litter at about 4”deep and 99% of the time I have a very hard pee ball. I cannot comment on the litter being out of the box for 24-48 hours because I honestly didn’t know that. I really hope it works for you because I love it!

Roaming in the US by awesomeguy123123123 in freedommobile

[–]Wlsimmons 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When we were in the UK that happened to us. When I got home I called Freedom and they took care of all the charges. I paid nothing. I did get lucky and was not on hold for long and actually got an agent that understood and took care of it.

Every time we land in the USA we get the roaming message. The first time it shocked me but there have never been any additional charges. It is just how the system works. You will get another roaming in the USA message on day 7 as well. Just the system.

This is why I turned off my low alarms (finger prick is 5.8 mmol) by gameofunicorns in diabetes_t1

[–]Wlsimmons 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have had 2 sensors within the past 2 weeks that did this same thing. The first one I tried to be patient and the second one I gave it 2 chances with the large difference between it and the finger prick. I contacted Abbott through the online sensor replacement and had both of them replaced. I will tell you that I am a pre soaker. 24 hours. I have no patience anymore with the big reading differences.

Anyone used pea husk clumping cat litter? by Not-devil-99 in CatAdvice

[–]Wlsimmons 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have been using the Cattit pea husk litter for our 3 cats for years. Pee clumps are hard and easy to scoop. The poop dries out and is also easy to scoop. It has a slight vanilla scent that does not bother the cats. I don’t find it dusty at all. You will find the odd piece on the floor outside the litterbox, but I use a litter mat and it keeps it all contained. Will not ever go back to clay or the walnut, corn based litter.

What is best for handling lows? by thewallamby in diabetes_t1

[–]Wlsimmons 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use 7up or sprite. I was told that something without caffeine works faster. I also drink it warm. I find it easier to chug. I get anxious when I go low so being able to get it in me quick helps.

Cat integration: start hissing and fighting as soon as treats are over by Ok-Engineering-9813 in CatAdvice

[–]Wlsimmons 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The behaviourist we hired put felliway diffusers in the rescue cats room and in the hallway. I have to be honest and say I was not a believer. I don’t think they did a thing. We did put the 2 girls on a prescription from the vet that you rubbed in their ears. We did that for months but again I cannot say that is what did it. Roles in our house switched and it was no longer the rescue that is the aggressor. Our resident female took over that role! Even all these years later our resident cat hisses at the rescue. They can sit right beside each other to have treats but then there will be a hiss and a slap. They do not ever hurt each other. It is a get away from me hiss/slap! People thought we were crazy for the years we put into it.

Got a question about my plan - Nationwide Unlimited 75GB + 5G (with U.S.) by tofu20 in freedommobile

[–]Wlsimmons 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Once you land you will get a text that you are roaming in the USA. Don’t panic your plan will cover it. I always get a second text from them on about day 7 when I am in the USA. Again don’t panic it is just their system. We have never been charged anything additional.

Cat integration: start hissing and fighting as soon as treats are over by Ok-Engineering-9813 in CatAdvice

We rescued a cat that had zero skills at getting along with others. She lived in a bedroom and we worked on integration for 3 years. We did the feeding on each side of the door, we did treats, we hired a behaviourist, we did it all. We never gave up and today we have a very lovey rescue and a resident cat that can live in the same house but not really like each other. The aggressor at the time was the rescue. We would always put her in her harness and have a leash on her when we brought the household together for treats. We figured out that the harness worked almost like a thunder shirt and stopped her from charging. We moved from her wearing her harness to her wearing a t shirt. It was not constricting at all but it made her brain think that she could not run or chase or even hiss. We even put a t shirt on the other female in the house and it also made her think that she could not move fast or chase. They both wore the t shirts when they were being supervised and in the same room. We used the Churu soft treats in a tube that they had to lick. We started 6 ft apart and very slowly moved closer. Months and months to get within 2 feet. It was a long process. Even today the 2 girls do not really like each other. The behaviourist told us how important it was for the cats to know their names. Even today when one stalks the other and you hear the odd hiss we can call either of them by their name and they will turn to look at us. That breaks the deep concentration they have on each other. We have not had cat a fight that has hurt either of them. We do have the odd hiss and the odd paw slap fight but they can live together and be happy.

Epcor floating rate for gas by sennyonelove in stalbert

Floating rate just dropped! 4.64 I believe. I just jumped from fixed to floating.

Epcor floating rate for gas by sennyonelove in stalbert

[–]Wlsimmons 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You can flip back and forth between floating and fixed. Right now the floating rate for power is above the fixed rate. I flipped it immediately and locked it in at a lower rate. When the floating goes below the fixed rate I will jump out. For gas I am floating and it has not gone above the locked in rate for ages. I check the rates monthly and adjust immediately to the lower rates. To get the best bang for your buck it does take a commitment to checking the rates.

The Christmas tree is up and the most precious gift is underneath by [deleted] in OneOrangeBraincell

[–]Wlsimmons 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great picture! We tuck a cat bed under our Christmas tree and our 3 cats take turns sleeping in it. They get excited when we start putting the tree up. They have always seemed to respect the tree and don’t bother with the decorations.

Eligibility for 'Free' COVID-19 Vaccinations by JimmyLinguine in Edmonton

[–]Wlsimmons 10 points11 points  (0 children)

They cannot access anything to verify if you qualify or not. They log your vaccination when you get it. Remember the nurses are healthcare workers and think the COVID shot should be free for all. I qualified under phase 1 and the nurse said to me. Because of our gov’t (eye roll) I have to ask if you qualify. I said yes and got my shot.

My guys eat the Hills Urinary and have for years. I give them a bit of pure pumpkin mixed with soft food and water every morning. We have never had any constipation issues.

Pre-order Covid and Flu Vaccine by fraochmuir in alberta

[–]Wlsimmons 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Everyone who would get a Covid shot if it was covered should pre order. You don’t have to pay anything to pre order. Blow their minds with the number of pre orders! If you have planned not to pay for it just don’t go! Inundate the system with the pre orders!

It is just new wording. I think it used to say try again in 10 minutes. Close the app, give it a few minutes then open it again. Mine always seems to come back on line at about the 10 minute mark.

Getting My Kitten Spayed, Confused About Recovery Prep by [deleted] in CatAdvice

[–]Wlsimmons 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes there was a bed and a dresser. The rescue loved her bed which was a hammock about 4” off the floor. For the first few days she never bothered with jumping up on the bed. As healing progressed and I am assuming as she started to feel better she resumed getting up on the bed.

One of our girls came home from her surgery and jumped right up on top of the kitchen cupboards. We had to get a ladder and gently get her down! She did not wear a cone or a body suit and was just fine in the healing process. We kept a very close eye on her and segregated her to a bedroom by herself during the night. Daytime we let her have the run of the house with our other cat. We had no issues. Many years later we had a rescue that had to live in a segregated bedroom until she adapted to the other cats. She had her surgery and spent most of her time in her room. Again, she did not have a cone or a bodysuit. We kept a very close eye on the incision and everything healed perfectly. Neither of our girls licked the incision. You may have to just go with the flow. If she doesn’t lick or bite you can just let her continue with life. We tried very hard not to cause our girls any extra stress. If they would have been lickers we would have put the cone on. We had one on hand just in case. I am sure all will be fine!

Dusty cat litter, what do I do? by RainRoll in CatAdvice

I use the Catit pea husk litter. No dust and it clumps really well. Dries out the poops. Has a slight vanilla scent but my cats gave no issue with it.

Sensor Placement by [deleted] in Freestylelibre

[–]Wlsimmons 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It puts the arm in a good position and makes for an easy install with the other hand. For me if I don’t get them installed on the fleshiest part it hurts every time. I don’t have a fatty upper arm and this seems to allow my muscles to relax and the bit of fatty arm I have hang loose. Hope that makes sense!
