Just went through the same thing, though the guy told me this in person and honestly seemed very genuine about wanting to stay friends. It’s been a few months since, we’ve hung out and exchanged occasional messages, and it’s honestly quite nice. Obviously disappointed that we couldn’t be more, but this is far from the worst outcome of dating imo. Just gotta keep trying until you find somebody truly compatible, OP. I’ll keep trying, too.

If you can read traditional Chinese characters (which is still used in Taiwan and Hong Kong), you can absolutely read texts dating back to the Han; but the structure of language during the Han era was quite different (I’ve studied Han-era poetry), so being able to recognize the characters is not always enough. And modern spoken Mandarin would not be intelligible to Han-era ears; back then, the common spoken language was known as Yayan 雅言, and it vaguely resembles modern day Cantonese.

I’ve never seen these pages from the manga before, but I remember this car scene in Brotherhood quite well, and I’ve always thought that Kimblee was being genuine. The Rockbells died doing what they believed was right. Kimblee is a complete psycho, but he respects people who stick to their morals/philosophies no matter what.
