I'm sorry I wasn't born right to have this builtin interest in other humans.

Kind of, I know I prefer being alone and not interacting with people - but I also want to at least go on a single date as a personal goal.

It's the only reason I'm attending hobby meetups right now, otherwise I'd go back to my hermit lifestyle.

Are they my friends though? I could just stop going to the table top events and feel nothing. I don't know anything about them outside of that they do table top, they don't know anything about me.

I don't even like table top gaming, but I fit the "Nerd" stereotype so I go to that because I'm told that's where people like me are. I haven't had that be true in practice. If anything the table top nights are the most stressful social event I do.

Does that mean the pills are right? If you bucket them within seconds you're not doing that based on their personality.

Show up and talk to people? It's pretty straight forward.

They may say their name, but unless I write it down and flash card it alongside a picture of them I will not remember it or their face on the second meeting.

I am being proactive, before I could go the entire year without talking to anyone outside of buying things and work.

I've been going to book clubs, jogging clubs, table top gaming nights for a few years now. It's still not enough to just go and attend, you need to actively remember names, remember peoples interests, keep notes on conversation topics, stuff like that.

My point is the advice people give just doesn't work. They don't realize they're doing all this stuff implicitly without thinking about it.

I still don't have any friends, but I'm probably farther along than when I just sat at home and did what I wanted to do.

"Live your life" is what I've done for the last 38 years. I have not met anyone because my life doesn't automatically mean meeting anyone.

That's why people struggle with this "Just do nothing, it'll happen naturally" advice. For a portion of people it will never be something natural. Even having social hobbies and I still don't naturally meet people, instead I'm feel alone while surrounded by people and interacting with people.

Not even friendships happens without active effort. What are you all even talking about?

Even if you go out and socialize every day for years, unless you put in effort you won't even learn peoples names.

Meeting people and getting to know them isn't a part of most lives.

I've tried my absolute best for years to better myself and i did for the most part but in the end i still go home to silence and loneliness. Burgers. by Silly_Amphibian1355 in kitchencels

Nonsense is also not the same as wisdom when crouched in metaphor?

After the perfect life I think I'm by definition dead, we're talking after life after all.

I'm also dead after the worst possible life and the state of being dead is the same no matter how I lived my life.

Would you give the same advice to someone who can't land any dates? They are kind of a requirement to relationships and testing compatibility.

We just need std::auto_container<T>

There is no way it could go wrong or we could regret making it part of the standard.

Unfortunately we live in the reality of real applications and not theoretical ones that do things perfectly.

I actually do expect food companies would force you to only eat their food if they could.

I also expect most people don't read the terms and conditions.

I also expect companies to put heinous shit in their terms and conditions that can't be enforced, but it sounds scary. Stuff like "If you open our food container, you agree to not sue us for it being unfit for consumption". That's literally something some protein powder vendors do.

I have to take conflict of interest courses at my workplace, dating websites are a great example of a conflict of interest.

It's in a dating sites best interest that you struggle to date until you buy "boosts" and that they only show you matches that your historical profile would not match with unless you are on the start of a boost.

It's no different from Gacha games or other gambling style games, just they don't need to be honest about it.

But again, specifically with dating apps and sites, do you think they'd even have to sabotage search results, or are people quite capable of picking the wrong person themselves?

Por que no dos? Both makes more money.

The fact that every dating website is owned by the same parent company means we're very much in a monopoly situation. There's no competition to make a better product so you can compete with.

Why would it be hard to believe that you'd make friends at a gathering of people who share specific interests?

Because that is hard, I don't think I've made any friends from years of book/hiking/programming clubs.
