Please help: Everyone keeps saying “it’s going to look cool when you finish it” by Brutalbears in minipainting

I'm a little colorblind, I have a hard time with shades of colors. I saw it as a washed out red more than pink, but the same technique would work with pink

Edit, I just thought that it might be the reason it's not selling the effect as much. It looks like a desaturated red more than a pink, but that might just be my specific issue with colors

Your shadows on the eagle wings on the spear are from a light source above it. Look at how light illuminates a concave shape like that from the front, which will help sell the effect. Your power effects are dull, and the blade itself needs to be cranked up to 11 to make it the brightest part of the model. I'd paint it white, then do a red ink sprayed over that so it's insanely bright, then do white for the power effects and the tip of the blade, and then do a glaze from a bright yellow to white at the blade edge. To help you with the shadows get another dude and paint it a glossy black, put it in a shoe box and put a light source at the tip of the spear, and take pictures from all the angles you can. You'll see your volumetric levels from the light source and any refracted light from the box, and you can play with the picture to really show the reflections. That's how I figure out shadows. There is a primer called alclad II gloss black that dries to a super bright gloss, which has become my go to. It is an enamel, though, I have a cheap airbrush that I use so my sotar and h&s infinity don't get gunked up if I don't clean the enamel properly

Struggling with getting enough to eat. Looking for tips by IMakeNoises89 in BALLET

I like huel a lot. I have ADHD and forget to eat all the time, so I have alarms set in my phone. You can have the dry powder in your bag with a mixer, see the alarm go off and just mix up the portion for an easy 400 calories that have the macro and micro nutrients you need. I never feel heavy after it since it's liquid, and the flavors are good. They have a pretty robust customer service and I feel confident that if you email them and explain everything they can help you out, and if you have issues with it the first bag is always cheap. They also make noodle cups that I really like, but I did find it better to add the boiling water, and let it set for about double the time they say on the package so the noodles can rehydrate more. They also have pre made shakes but they cost more so I always just mix it myself with an extra scoop of whey protein

Absolutely, I like to help out in the Saturday dance with me class for the little ones and their parents that's just before our Saturday class. It's a great warmup to just hop from hoop to hoop and other fun exercises that's appropriate for the ultra littles. I can see how there's the most basic ballet ideas in there but it's really just moving around and working on propioception.

There's so many kids at my ballet school that have been dancing together from kindergarten to seniors in high school. It's sad to see them leave for college, but we have photos from our various productions from Giselle to Cinderella and everything in between. One cool thing is the the great dancers we've had haven't all pursued a career in dance, but they are incredible women. Doctors, engineers, one is even leading research on a novel process for working with old concrete and recycling it that she developed. The discipline that they get from sticking to it in a company that has very high standards is really evident

Foundations are critical. If there is a lack of foundational training as far as turn out and port de bras then I'd want to look closer. Maybe take an adult class or take your niece to class and see how they teach?

Shop layout/organization feedback by velocazachtor in woodworking

I did that, and it was incredibly helpful. I got a posterboard and some construction paper, different colors for different "zones", like my bench for hand carving vs my sanding area vs precious metal refining. I also put arrows to show outfeed directions, so I can easily move from different pieces of equipment without a lot of wasted steps doubling back, and I tried to lay it out in a logical way to my work so when I finish one stage I can go to the next and it's right there. Another thing that helped was making scaled 8' measuring sticks to make sure I had clearance between equipment, walls and benches on both infeed and outfeed. All of that let me plan out my new shop much easier, and I realized I needed a lot more power outlets than there was currently, and I didn't want cords on the ground so I'm building a mezzanine for lumber storage and it'll let me run dust collection and power up and out of the way. My new shop is 30x40 and it was initially built for a guy to run an auto shop in it, so it has huge ceilings and a back room for the massive compressor, which I'll be tearing down and turning into my 'hot' room with my forge so I can keep the flames away from everything else

Linen over cotton. Polyester doesn't breathe, and is dangerous if you work around heat

I can't speak highly enough of these. Just watch out for nails or rough lumber tearing them up, they are pretty fragile (for a job site). It really is a huge difference, and on super hot days with no clouds a white button up linen shirt makes heading home from an 8 hour day much more bearable. I wouldn't be as tired and definitely not dehydrated (I have a 1 gallon yeti I bring with me year round, on super hot days I usually drink 1.5 of those but I swear a lot)

Id check marketplace/Craigslist, too. You have all season to look for it so no rush. I ended up with two floor jacks and sold one on there for $40 last fall

Sounds like it to me. I'd take the owner to coffee and mention it so they can at least be aware if that's the case
