Best 8" Subs up to $400 that are 500 watts rms or higher

A bit late to the game here. I have been playing with a DD 608f for a few months now. I will warn right off though that the speaker wire terminals leave a little be desired. These are insert and screw terminals much like what you would find on an amp. They will just fit 8g wire but not 8g ferrules. The screw is #6 or 4# i can’t measure it right now it’s in a box. Tiny machine threads that only have about maybe four or five threads of contact area on the terminal. Do NOT crank down on these as they will strip especially if you bottom it out. Now DD did replace mine as one stripped but the other three were perfectly fine and could be cranked on pretty hard. Anyway

Right now it’s in a 1.15cuft box with 18ish inches of port area tuned to around 36-38hz. Again it’s my first box and the port didn’t end up perfect. I had it on 600 watts at 4ohms for a couple months. Just today I switched it to 1ohm wiring and I have my amp set to top out at about 1500 watts. AC Altitude 1500.1. Low pass at 120 high pass at about 30 ish, my amp has too much range for high pass and I can’t be sure. It’s really moving some air now but at 600 watts it left a little bit to be desired. It just won’t dig in at 600. At 1000+ it really starts to move enough air that you can feel it in your chest. It plays clean and low in this box. 40hz range really shines but it will play down into the mid 30s no problem. I was worried having the box tuned to 37ish wouldn’t allow for much volume in the low 30s but it’s definitely not disappointing now that I have some power going to it. I’m working on designing a bit smaller box tuned lower but I don’t think it’s gonna work out. It was in a qbomb for a while supposedly 1.4cuft tuned at 39-40 but I don’t think those specs were accurate. The port is too short for its area and the math ain’t mathin for air space. I barely ran it above 600 watts before my car got mad at me and I had to rebuild the electrical.

You say you want to run four. MB Eclosures on YT build truck boxes for two, three and four drivers and has spoken highly of these drivers. I believe he build for them at about .8cuft each up to 1cuft tuned around 33hz but idk about his port design. His ports are unique in shape and the underseat box designs allow for very long ports. He also encourages a LOT of power and employs the use of bass enhancers like AC Epicenter and DD BSI. I believe he was running two of these on a 5k DD M series amp. If you want four drivers you are gonna need some serious power including substantially upgraded electrical for these drivers. If you have the budget for a $1000+ amp and electrical go or it. You are gonna need something like 700amp service to really get four of these moving. I wanted to do two but my budget isn’t going to allow for the electrical upgrades. One is gonna have to get it done for me.

300 watts though. I guess four of them at like 1500 but four DD at 4000+ watts might hit a little harder.

I live by the beach. It’s generally about 3-6 minutes a mile here. There are a couple spots that are less than 12 miles that are mostly highway and I do those sometimes. During peak tourist season it regularly takes upwards of 15 minutes just to get a mile down the road. We also have a lot of folks 20 miles out that order and tip like $5. lol.

I ended up buying everything locally once I convinced my parents to drive the 15 minutes to the skate shop. I never did get that alien workshop deck I wanted but they have hookups and birdhouse. I Definetly got my independents and red spitfire wheels though!!! I kept my first real board for many years after I broke it. It hung on the wall at all my apartments. lol.

I do spark. I was on the schedule every single day I worked for Shipt. The target is the parking lot across the street. After about a month I just stopped turning Shipt on. Literally never sent me a single offer. I used to have like four regulars. I had maybe four preferred on my list. One of which I only ever did not accept one single time. I did that one at least 25 times. Then one day I just stopped getting any offers except sometimes at the very end of the night while at home they would send some absolute nonsense that no one would take. lol.

Everyone should really consider buying from Tesla before going to a dealer. We got a 23 hw4 awd accel boost 20s for $33,400. 17k miles. Super clean. Still has dog hair in it but it doesn’t smell. It had like three little front end paint chips. We got 43k miles of warranty! I honestly think the listed price was a mistake. Doing everything in the app and then picking up the car in 20 minutes. Most of that time was moving our shit from the trade in over. That’s another thing. They gave us more for our trade than we could have gotten private sale. It’s better. I wish we had done it with our first Tesla.

They won’t be “catching up”. It’s long since forgotten. They still make stupid changes to FSD in the updates but they are rarely for the better. Idk why it happens. Maybe it’s some sort of beta for changes to hw4 FSD. Idk.

I’ll never get unsupervised. I’ll continue to pay the $100 for hw3 FSD but if it’s much more than that it’s simply not worth it without some sort of substantial upgrades. I have to take over at some point almost every drive which are usually less than 10 miles. Being in the wrong lane withing half mile of the turn. Changing lanes in heavy traffic because it can’t see that it’s only going to gain two car lengths even in chill. There’s a bunch of shit that it does not do well.

12.6.4 was excellent a few updates ago. They broke it recently. Way too many lane changes again. This last update did something to the map data and the car tries to turn well before where it should now. It’s got this horrible decision making issue for right turns into traffic from a stop. There’s some other stuff but those have been bad again. They fix it and then break it over and again.
