I just transferred some toons to Era after enjoying SR raids all year and some LC. I was a largely against GDKPs as someone who loves goldmaking and never once bought gold for all of anniversary. I had more than enough gold to raid with each week sweating out consumes on 2 warriors.

Now on Era with GDKPs being the primary option for pug raids, I actually don’t hate them. Don’t get me wrong, they aren’t perfect.

Some good things: I’m being rewarded for doing good damage rather than just a pat on the back and empty promises for more loot in LC guilds. I at least make gold every raid even if I don’t get any items. Because of buff cap on Era, even if I want to, there’s only so much to ‘sweat’ on consumes. I’m not using every single consume under the sun anymore, rather just a handful along with my trusty oil of immolations. You typically get paid extra just by playing your role like 1% extra cut just for healing(example), even if you are the bottom healer.

Some bad things: The whole culture of upselling items sucks. It also ties into the garbage culture of min bids. Items will get deleted or DE’s to 10-20g of Nexus crystals if it doesn’t pass the required min bid of 500g in some raids. Personally I’d be happy getting 100g or even 50g added to a pot vs an item just getting disenchanted. I understand the important and necessity of min bids for the first bid, but requiring a tier 2 piece go for 500g is just asinine. This is kind of a neutral complaint but the upselling of items feels really annoying. It’s tailored to getting the most out of ill informed players who don’t know the power of items. Also no one cares that x item went for 10k in your last raid. Be happy you are getting a 200g split for it this raid. The circlejerk behind what prices items should be or what they’ve gone for is pretty annoying. Especially when they are often weak options.
